Had a neighbor with one of these new. I was always in total amazement with this rear roof design.

I asked to borrow it one Saturday to carry some sappling trees back from the nursery for my yard, but was declined. :(

This is one SWEET, not to mention rare car. Best of all, the wood looks to be in fairly decent shape. Certainly good enough to provide patterns for any replacements needed. Mechanically, bog-simple. What makes this one even rarer is that it is the 6 cylinder model. Not many Super Deluxe Woodies were made, I'm sure. To pay for the up-level trim, but to save the little bit of money for the 6, in the name of fuel economy, was just not often done. Of course, with some minor, non-permanent changes, the 6 will match or beat the stock flathead V8 for power, anyway. It just won't sound like the V-8.

Not really true. Back then there were those that still distrusted the V8 and were used to the 6. Many cars were ordered with the 6 without a thought. Sort of like ordering a car loaded except for power windows (like my dad would do).

Don't forget, Silverfox, that the flathead V-8 in the Ford had been around for 16 years by then and in the Ford line, the V8 did outsell the 6 by a very large margin. Somewhere in one of my Collectable Automobiles, they did an article about this generation of Fods, with the production break down, and the 6 was not taken very often, and even less with Super Deluxe trim, and less still with the weight of the woody to haul around.

There are always a few die hards....to wit; the original owner of the car in question.
