No worries MikeT. Where I come from in Mass, the rear wheel wells, dog-legs and rear bumpers could be toast within five years if you weren't careful. The 76 CE in question is definitely drool-worthy.

Well I didn't win the lottery tonight, so I guess I wont bid on this '76 wagon. LOL. Had I won the lottery, I would have given you my '72, lol.

I know, I wish I could let it go much cheaper. I feel like with as much as I have in it, I should get it going and work on it a little at a time. My plans are to try as much as I can to get it on the road this summer. If not, I will probably sell it at a big loss. :( My other option would be to trade it for another running wagon. I would not mind having another clamshell with woodgrain that is already running, or a 1973-74 Country Squire. Maybe that will be an option later on.

Now bid up to $9800 with reserve still not met with four (4) plus days of bidding still left on the auction. How high could this Caprice go? Any predictions?

Seems we are in new territory here. The GM clamshells in (nearly) mint condition may finally be entering their own as true collectibles.

I hear you, silverfox, but this is a rare car and the owner knows what he's got. I cannot fault him for wanting to get maximum value out of it it.

Remember the '76 Buick Estate Wagon on eBay last year that brought about $16,000?

Mint and loaded clamshells are few and far between.

I remember a few years back 5-8 yrs probably a buick estate wagon with full factory vinyl roof and REAL low miles from an estate. IT went for ungodly money i belive a lot more than $16,000. Car looked like brand new! on e-bay

I have seen this car in person guys. It is beyond showroom clean. this one and about 5 other ones he has. Last I knew he has 3 big block 73 chevy's and a big block 72. He also has a 72 chevy with a fuel injected 500 caddy engine. Going to his place is like a 71-76 clamshell porno!!!!

lol, well you seem to have a way with finding wagons pretty easy and seem to get them shipped/transported easier than I can, lol. With that in mind, keep in mind that I am always open to trades. :) If you happen to get another wagon that dont really seem to be the one you want that you dont have much $ invested in, if you are still in mine, let me know, because I may be interested in a swap. I dont know what condition limit you are at, I will tell you my car needs work and it does have rust in the usual areas these cars rust in - lower dog legs, spare tire bottom, rear cargo area windows. The floors, rocker panels and frame are solid, so its not like anything that cant be fixed. The interior is still excellent, a major plus on these cars. Like I said, I paid $4000 for it in '07, spent another $500 on the engine in 2009. $3500 may be more than you want to pay for it, but if I sold for cash, I would like that much for it if I decided to sell, or a trade even better. Consider any other clamshell with woodgrain, prefer a 3-seat model from 1971-74. I am not much of a fan of any of the 75-76 models. I even like the 73-74 Country Squires. :) I would have traded it to you for that '73 Buick Estate you had, despite the lack of the 3rd seat. ;)

My plan is to start working on the engine next week, since warm weather is finally here. Its sunny and 73° out there right now, I should be out there now working on it. lol.
