That vacuum parking brake release is a pain in the BUTT! It is a nylon pice around the base of the steering column. They almost always leak and stop functioning. Also, in the early years, they would release the brake when you went into either reverse or drive. The later ones released in drive only. On the 89, it was disconnected and never repaired. Couldn't be bothered. I'm quite capable of releasing my own parking brake.

I once had a '68 Imperial with the auto release parking brake. The release activated whenever the shifter was taken out of drive so even in neutral, you couldn't set the parking brake. Nevertheless, it was it epitome of luxury as only minions will be caught fiddling with a parking brake release.

Thanks for finding that. This CP seemed vaguely familiar to me when I posted it. Now we know.

I don't understand when a seller posts a car with a very high required opening bid. Why not open it for all bids, but with a very high reserve price? That way you can find out what the market is for your car and still keep it if your reserve isn't met. Or maybe this seller doesn't really want to sell it.

This one allegedly sold for $14,000 (again).

The second auction from the same place for the same car for the same "successful" bid price sounds an awful lot like ghost bidding. The car is still listed on their website as for sale at $16500:
