And Mine, Interesting car, but not at $18K Approaching that number I would like the interior sorted out 1st, at the very minimum.

He saw the big block and A/C and figured it was going to completely fund his retirement. Then he threw a surfboard on it and it really went off the rails.

The car has good options, and is very original, it looks like the California emissions system is all there except for the smog pump belt. Probably means the pump is seized. If the A/C works it is probably worth $12-14K If it doesn't subtract $1-2K IMO.
I know I am in the Minority here in not liking wood grain on wagons, this is a perfect example of why. Original car with sun faded woodgrain that is expensive to redo, and almost as expensive to remove. That and I just don't care for the look. If its real wood sure! But plastic wood just does nothing for me personally.

Agree 100%. Plastic wood llooked bad enough but when they went to contact paper it was plain embarrassing IMO.

I don't mind Di-noc wood paneling, but for the '66 Caprice Custom, I just thought the DESIGN they chose made it look kinda ugly. Chevy went with a completely different woodgrain design for '67, with aluminum trim instead of the wide, Di-noc covered rail trim on the '66. Looked MUCH better, IMO.

As to how our family ended up with a '66 Caprice wagon...... My dad was a Chevy man at the time. He would have been happy with an Impala wagon. My step-mother though, didn't like the great expanse of body color on a station wagon. She liked that the wood paneling broke it up. So it was MOM who chose the Caprice. If she had 100% of her choice, she probably would have gone for a Ford Country Squire. Truth be told, I would have gone for the Ford as well.
