Sorry to have been so long posting, but lots of work duties. I have added another Torino to the fleet and it is probably a keeper as well.

This car ran on Craigslist for a long while and never sold. I decided to take a trip to Knoxville to check it out. 78K original miles, 2 owner, base Torino wagon with zero options. Ordered new through the Sears Roebuck catalog in early 1972, all documentation, 6 cyl, 3 speed on the column, manual brakes, manual steering, radio delete, rubber mat. Interior is very clean, nice condition. Exterior has recent hail damage, but we are slowly removing them with a Keco remover. Car came with a set of chrome smoothies added by the 2nd owner (bought from the original owner in 2007) and gave it it's first repaint in factory red.

Runs like a top, I have added lots of new TLC parts, lowered it a small bit and installed 17 inch Mustang Bullits. Makes a really economical cruiser that grabs tons of attention. A stark contrast to the '72 Gran Torino Squire I have that has a 429/C6 and loaded with every option, LOL.

I have attached a couple of pictures I took at work yesterday of it. Hope you guys like her. First picture is the day I got her and the other two are yesterday. The 3 on the tree is a blast to drive - much more tame a car than my '72 Cobra Jet Gran Torino Sport.

That is a great wagon. I would leave it mechanically the way it is. I had a 72 red Gran Torino that mostly looked just like that...except the grille.

Thanks guys. She was originally advertised on CL for $4K. After months of not selling, the price dropped to $3,500, then $3,000, then $2,500, then $2,000. I bought her for less than that and drove the trip home running 70. First time I believe it had ever been out of that town. Sold the smoothies, already had the Bullits, gave it a bunch of TLC and new parts.

I have a late model 5.0HO/5 speed combo that would be sweet in it, but after a good tune, that little 250 runs like a sewing machine and the 3 speed is undeniably retro. No slop in anything (shifter too!) so I am leaving it alone. Perhaps some day I will do a swap, but not now.

Yes, the Gran Torino grills, hood, front bumper are completely different, but this is a nice change from our others. I am on the hunt for a new grill for it to replace the present one.

Congrats, I remember your wagon being posted before. Dare to be different, keep the stock running gear. Best thing about a 3 on the tree is, it's like a anti theft device, hardly anyone knows how to use it!

Hey Joe. Glad to see that you posted Stripper over here. I had noticed that you're a member, but had not posted lately. Looking forward to seeing her in person, next weekend!

Hey Jeff! Glad to see you are here as well. I am really looking foward to checking out your Villager. Wish my Squire still had the trim for the woodgrain - it is impossible to find now (being made of fiberglass) after all these years. This will be a great trip and I hope we see more wagons to bring into the group.

This site is as welcoming as the GTS site. Such a good feeling to actually correspond with others having the same interest in these family trucksters. I thought about unloading one of the GTS cars after finding a '65 Bel Air wagon last week, but C and my wallet advised me not to.
