Beautiful wagon! Really unusual to find a base model Torino wagon, and even more rare to find a zero option one. That means that it originally had the 14X6 steel rims with dog dish hubcaps and black wall tires. I would bet that there are few, if any, other original and unmolested base, zero option, Torino wagons out there. Would be really neat to see her on the original style steel wheels just for 'retro' effect

Thanks for the compliments guys. Here is a picture of the engine bay after a very minor scrubbing a a quickie bomb job. I have since replaced hoses, belts, etc. Someone installed an old aftermarket A/C system from Sears on it at some point years ago, but that is coming back off. Ugly, does not work and the knobs are right above my right leg, so it is getting removed this weekend.

Mike, I have the original wheels this car came with and the dog dish caps. Although original, 14 inch tires are more expensive than a larger rim size nowadays. These wagons are so heavy, that they just scream out for more wheel/tire. I tried a set of 18 inch aftermarket Bullits in 9 and 10 inches, but the clearance was pretty tight. Between the CVPI shocks, spring mods, good tires and the larger rims, it rides and handles VASTLY different. The manual steering box will eventually be swapped for a SPA box to reduce the turn to turn from over 5 to 3.2 - soooo much better.

This weekend I will be installing a Ranchero rear bumper (same as a wagon, but this one is straight), removing the A/C unit, continuing the body TLC, and a good cleanup. Going to the Moonshine Festival in her with the GTS.org group. Great group of people and we will have a couple of wagons there .

    Are any of you going?

Went to the Moonshine Festival this past weekend. Wagon did well until I filled it up again down there. No idea if it was bad gas, saturated gunk in the tank or what, but it took 30 miles of stalling and non-starts to get it out. Headlight switch is fried, and some assorted items needing attention, but after checking the mileage, it averaged almost 18 mpg in mixed driving. Not bad for the longest trip it has ever made in it's life...

The manual steering combined with 55 series tires and 3-on-the-tree made life rather miserable. Changing that. Saw one of our fellow members there and looked at his NICE Montego Villager. What a beauty.

Hey Carlos! Great to hear from you. Very cool that the 4 of us are both wagon owners and friends on the Torino forum as well! This seems to be a great place to be a member of and I am thoroughly enjoying reading the other wagon threads.

Yes, I enjoyed most of the drive in the car except for the few hiccups. Must expect that in a non-restored car of this vintage...

Great to see another base Torino Wagon. I have the same, zero options except for the 302V8 and 3 speed auto, I understood the auto tran was a option, but maybe wrong. I got mine in 2009 with 27k miles, most incredibly it came over to the UK in 1973 and is very solid considering. I always wanted a fully loaded Squire but the simplicity of the base model makes for easier life especially in UK, also without the trim you can see how crisp, clean and sculptural the pure design is. The front is cleaner but grill is brittle, I searched for 3 years and could not find one, eventually I had it repaired by an architectural model making company. I didn't bother to lower mine as it spends most of the time that way from hauling! Have taken up the rubber floor to prevent moisture trapping.

    Cool looking wagon!

Yes, the 302 and automatic were options. I like that pewter color as well.

I have a loaded Squire with the 429, and although it is powerful and comfy, I like the light feel of this one...manual steering aside. My grill is broken, but I have a line on one here in TN that I'll pick up soon. Also hunting a good hood.
