Just one helluva wagon. Wish they would have matched the front seat color better when they did the insert. Nevertheless...I'll take it...roll ups and all!

What a beauty. I love the look of the 4dr hardtop on a wagon. This guy knows how to sell something on ebay. Beautiful job of supplying all those pictures. What a rare find. I just have to wait another 27 years before mine gets that old.

 

That guy knows exactly what folks want to see in an online auction. The car is photo documented very well, paper documentation included and he is apparently very available to show the car and he also answers questions in a timely manner.

Someone is going to snatch that car.

 

Probably not as much as you think. This was built in the days before crash standards came along, so it doesn't have any reinforcement bar or shock absorbers - just the bumper and some brackets is all.....

 

That's what I mean, KK....just the bumper. Never mind all you mention. Just the chrome, heavy metal bumper. When you strip away all the stuff you mention on the newer bumpers....do the new bumpers weigh as much? I would think that size alone would prevent that not to mention the thickness of the older ones.

 

Manufacturers have gotten smart when it comes to bumper assemblies. When the first bumper standards came out in the mid 70's the engineering for them wasn't what you would call state-of-the-art. They were usually a big chromed steel bumper bar, backed by a big steel reinforcement bar, all mounted on these big shock absorbers. Whole thing on a full sized car might weigh 200+ pounds. After the car makers started using urethane covers primarily, they developed better impact absorbtion systems that were lighter - waffle plastic or foam core among others. They also started using aluminum or fiberglas reinforced plastic for the reinforcement bars. All in all, probably dropped the average weight of a bumper system by 50%.....
