Crutchfield.com has some promising under-the-seat options for bass. A small Bazooka tube will also work for some modest bass. Personally, I decided to sacrifice cargo space and the use of the third row seats for a customized sub box that hold two 10" Rocksford Foscate Prime subs power by a 300w mono amp by Visonik, that's under the passenger seat. I also have a nice JVC head unit and a couple tweeters that I mounted in the dash. The normal speaker are still stock. They sound good so... if it ain't broke... Anyway, I'm very happy with my sound inside of the Caprice Estate.

Yeah Berni, a thief is a thief. What makes things worst is people WILL buy stolen goods, so sadly there is a market.

my buddy mike lives in D.C, and the stolen auto parts market is hopping!!!
last year he bought a 1 yr old Mitsubishi Evo...the car he has been wanting for years. he didnt have it 6 months.. he came home from work ... parked the car outside his apt. window and went inside. when he came out the next morning his car was stripped completely. as was the mini cooper in the space behind him. 20 ft from his bedroom window!!! he said the thieves were sooo efficient they didnt break anything. every part was carefully and quietly unbolted. the police told him that it was obviously a pro job and that they were probably following him for a week or so just to find out his schedule. and they said that these guys only strike when they have the parts sold already so they don't have to hold anything.

That's amazing. Sad, but amazing. I live in a quiet neighborhood in Baltimore and just hope that no one finds my old station wagon interesting enough to bother. I've considered tinting the windows, but I'm concerned about night time visibility. As for pics of my audio system setup... I'm honored to be ask to provide some. I haven't masters posting pictures on here, but I'll take the pictures today and try to figure out how to get them on here. :camera:

ALL good replys. I think that the idea of cutting a panel from a junkyard is great!! There are a lot of ideas out there for the radio. My 1962 Pontiac Catalina Safari wagon has an AM radio in it. I am going to make a center console for some coffee cups and a new FM radio. I was trying not spend a lot of money. I opted for a MECHLESS Dual radio. NO CD player. Plays music off of USB and memory stick. Also has an input for an MP3 player.
    Radio 40$
    Front speakers were 40$
    Rear Components Autotek 40$

I am going to make a modular box that can be removed and replaced. Then the fronts are gonna be in the console.

Here is what I did on the Tempest. Might give you guys some ideas.

Looks good to me!! The issue with subwoofers, is the depth of the speaker and the fact that you need a certain amount of area in the box for the woofer to sound right. Yours looks a lot like the first one I did. Many others as well. When you do someone elses car and they pay for parts, you can get a little crazy!!..

What brand of woofers do you have? Not that it matters, they all sound good when you get old. I used to buy the top of the line ones when I was young. Now I look for bang for the buck!!

Cool! I'll have pictures of my own tonight. Instead of draping cloth over it; home depot has some dirt-cheap carpet for $.40/ft^2 to contact-cement on to the box!

instead of having those tweeters on your dash facing right at you, you should lay them on thier back in the corners facing up towards the windshield. Right now thier just shooting sound waves in one direction, but if you face them up towards the windshield the sound waves will bounce off the glass and spread more evenly throughout the car. where is your amp mounted at??

i'm just running a Pioneer headunit a 1 farad cap, 700 watt Bazooka mono amp, and 2 12in Infinity's in a sealed box. I have the amp and cap mounted between the 2 backseats so when i have them folded up you can't see the amp or cap and at night i toss a towel over my subs and take the faceplate off the headunit. i replaced the 4x6 speakers in the dash with a set of Infinity's and am bout to switch out the 5 1/2's the previous owner put in the back for a set of infinity 5 1/2 componets. then i plan on adding a 4 channel amp to run all the highs and mids.

DidUTouchMe, the plans you have for your system sound great. Your suggestion about the tweeters is easy enough to try out, and I will very soon. The amp is under the passenger seat. The pics are a little dark. I plan to cover that ground wire. 1967 Tempest, you can't make out the name in the pics, but they are Rockford Fosgate Prime "10. The amp is by Visonik mono 300w. I thought it would make my subs look more incognito with the towel over them.

That is a good box. It will look like 1,000,000 when you add carpet. Those subs are nice!! The amp you have is good for those two. You have it in paralell right??

    http://www.termpro.com/articles/spkrz.html

The amp will not have to work as hard and you can use less level on the amp to achieve the same volume. If your deck has a equalizer in it pick one! Either the amp or the deck does the EQ. Not both. Also make sure that LOUD is turned off. This will almost always cause distortion in the music.

Don't use one type of music to TUNE your system. Move your subwoofer box and change the angle to get the best sound and bass.

Here are a few songs that I "Go to" when tuning a system.

Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart
The Police - Every Breath you Take
Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries (Classical)
Van Halen - Hot for Teacher
    Allaman Brothers - Blue Skies
    Beastie Boys - Paul Revere
    Nemesis - Drop the Bass

Countless others.. But get out of the same type of music. Make sure they all sound good. Not just one.

    Hope that helps.

    Dave
