73super, has the windshield been replaced lately? Because if it has not, then the leaks are most likely getting around past the glass due to a dried out seal just like mine was. I fixed the Ford by squeezing silicon sealer between the glass and the rubber all around. No leaks now but it's only a temporary fix. Sometime during the summer I'll get a friend to help me put in a new one.

As for getting the '49 Chev into a daily driver... that's a bold thing to do. I thought the '58 was "Old Tech", but that '49 is pretty much built with the same technology as the WW2 liberty ships. Big, solid and basic.
So... you have pictures? I assume it's a coupe and not a wagon since it's not listed in your "Garage"?

    Jairus,

The front windshield seal HAS been replaced. So not worried that it's coming from there...

The '49 is a 4-door and it's been updated a bit (350 SB, '51 front end (better brakes), TH350 transmission, '57 Chev rearend.. yadda, yadda. See pic.

I've posted pics of this somewhere on here before.. I don't remember which thread it was.

    SWEET!
No, never saw that before but I like it. :thumbs2:
The engine color is pretty unusual but it works well with the flat black valve covers. The bright orange from the Fram air cleaner works too. Maybe you could add a touch of bright orange elsewhere. (sorry, artist talking)

Finished the '58's butt... man that thing was a mess. Had to add a little more putty than what I'm normally comfortable with, but for now it'll have to do.

Today I converted the Monaco Wagon over to Mopar Electronic Ignition. My old distributer was bad so I figured it was the time to do it. Does run smoother and has more power.

FINALLY got around to getting the driver's door power window regulator assembly replaced in my son's Legacy, just in time for these 70 and 80 degree days (window hasn't worked since we bought the car last fall).

    He's pleased.

Also last week I replaced the alternator in my Loyale.

In the last 3 weeks I have replaced the water pump, fuel pump, Alt., and fixed a vacuum leak. Changed the oil and pulled the head liner that had dropped on to my head. Yesterday I found out the a/c was R12 and doesnt work....Pump works but pressure in system is too low to kick pump on. So do I vacuum it out and convert it to r134, try the Freeze12 stuff or just sweat...

Oh and the drivers window decided to fall off the track, for 2/60 a/c to work I have to replace the track and clip that holds it up. so for now I have 1/60 a/c. :) (which I will do anyway)

The car sat for 10 years before I got it so all of this is not exactly a surprize.

My son and I finally got around to redoing the headliner in the OCC. Glad that's done! :yahoo:

I also replaced a dead Delco speaker in the back as well. Why it stopped working is anyone's guess as it appears mint. OK, maybe too much :party5:.

Since we had to do some renovation in our basement level to accommodate my mom our wagon was put on the back burner and was literally covered with construction material.
Well I'm happy to say that hubby came in earlier today to express how much junk one station wagon(without seat in it) can hold. He found this out while he was cleaning her out. I believe she is back on the front burner. :dancing:
So as to what did we do to our wagon today...we found it. :bouncy:

:tiphat:Great news Fannie. My shop also looked like a bomb went off while we were away, I'm embarrassed to say.

I did manage to get the Safari off the hoist and drove it out of the shop and back in again though. Gosh I miss driving it immensely. Soon, real soon. How about yours? This summer?????

Got some american racing outlaw II's and some headers and nice flowmaster dual's for my 72 Grand Safari. For a bone stock 455 the thing sounds pretty tuff and get quite a few looks headin through town!

Been working on my daughters 96 roadmaster wagon. Getting it ready to go the school with her next year. She is in new mexico and we are here in the Chicago area so the car has a long drive ahead of it as well. the car has 187,000 miles on it so let's start here. The floors underneath had very heavy rust (no holes). ground clean and painted with "zero rust" then painted over that with duplicolor truck bed liner. The drive shaft, trans crossmember and the driveshaft saftey sling where all sandblasted then painted cast color. The rear brake lines where all replaced from the anti lock unit to the wheel cylinders (including the rubber flex line). The rear brakes where "completely" gutted and everything was replaced except the backing plates and the e-brake cable. The axle seals both sides and the back cover were replaced and new oil added. I am now fitting the exhaust back up with new cat to pipe flanges and a new set of dynomax turbo mufflers. Still have lots to do but the list is getting shorter :) .
