That's actually a '55 Chevy steering wheel I had laying around from another project. So I painted it up and stuck it in there... not the correct year ('58), but I think it works nicely... thanks! :Woot:

Okay, here is my wagon as of today. I installed the new/used BF's on my new wheels, deoiled the car and buffed the paint. I don't think this thing had been waxed since 1974. The paint was almost a light red, once I buffed it I realized it was a maroon car. Now I am debating between new dual exhaust or tinting the windows

Nice job. The color is deeper now.

    Looks good!
I'd vote for the duals over the tint... 2 1/2" pipes with a pair of Goerlich XLerator or DynoMax Ultra-Flos and that big ol' Buick would sound great.

Go with the pipes! Joe knows which way the spent gas blows ... and how to make it sound great. Those wagons, esp. with their beautiful curved back glass, look more airy and clean with the look you've got. Keeps it from looking even heavier. Plus, the garnet red is deep and rich enough on it's own, the lightly tinted windows add a nice contrast.
Great looking car, man. TT IIs look good too and I like seeing one sans wood grain.

PS: you could add that second shot to the "Nice A**es" thread and all would be right in the world for a moment.

The interior is mint so I don't need to "hide" the interior with tint. But, I really like tinted windows but I am thinking the exhaust is next. Car retains the convertor and could use a little more air for the motor

That Buick looks great, a little elbow grease made a big improvement! I agree with the others, pipes over tint.

    Swanny,
That car should not have a converter; 1975 was the first year for catalytic converters on GM's "49 state" (Federal emissions) cars.

    Bonneville's speedometer has been squealing...loudly.:(

Pulled the upper speedometer cable (from the cruise control transducer to the speedometer). Cable was so gummed up with old lube I could not turn it by hand...I'm amazed it worked at all!

Cleaned off all the old crud, lubed & re-installed...needle moves smoothly and all the noise is gone!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Unfortunately, I can now hear the interior squeaks that were drowned out by the speedometer racket. DOH!

Well today I made a sales call to a local towing company with a new rollback I have for a demo and guess what? Here sits a 74 Buick Electra 4 door post. A friend of theirs is getting ready to strip it for a derby car. One phone call later and I have the grill, headlight buckets, right hand wheel well trim, a/c compressor, front bumper, am/fm radio, dome lens cover. I am going back tomorrow for the door handles. I came straight home and polished the headlight bezels, installed them. Cleaned and straightened the one minor bend in the wheel well trim and installed it. Best part of the deal, it was FREE since the guy was happy to get someone to strip parts off he was going to take off anyway.

Though about it some more & talked to a couple people about a POSSIBLE 'midnight raid' on a certain Pigg Penn come spring/summer depending on several things, first & foremost, finances. WILL have the title with me J.I.C.

Got my wagon out of the cold Friday....

Finally got off my fat A** and cleaned up the garage. It's been getting pretty cold in the mornings lately, and I was tired of scraping the ice off the HHR. Loaded a bunch more stuff uo in the attic space above the garage, and stacked up most everything else. Still have a lot to do - build some storage shelves on the east wall (wall next to the HHR), and then I'm going to build a large workbench out of the old dressers you see against the other wall.

Started on my custom made console for the wagon. Have measurements decided on a design and time to start mocking it up. I will get pics of the progress as I move forward,

    Duals on the Bonneville

Worked with the new owner of my old company to develop a dual system for the 305 G body wagons.
Here are some pictures of the system in my car...please excuse the dirty, greasy underbody. Cleaning up under here is on my winter project list!

This view makes it look like the pipes are not evenly spaced on each side of the driveshaft, but they are equidistant from the driveshaft centerline.

We added the offset (the small "S" bend) on the passenger side to follow the floor pan. All pipes are 2 1/4" aluminized steel:

    Anybody recognize these mufflers?

Tailpipes exit just behind the rear wheels:

Welded tabs to the tailpipes so we could use the original muffler and tailpipe hangers...driver's side shown here:

A few of my friends have heard the car and we all agree that this stock 305 has no business sounding this good!

Got a new piece welded in where the spare tire well had rusted through, and took it to the shop to get dual exhaust put on.
