It is possible I'm wrong and GM began using knock sensors in '82 (I'd swear it was '80 with the 3.8L V6). But the fastest way to confirm it would be to look at an underhood elecgrical diagram for the C3 system in your car.

Changed the oil and filter in the Caprice (not a wagon) and when the vehicle was turned on to check for leaks "What's that? Leaky catalytic converter?" and I looked closer. Part of the metal tube leading from the cat back up to the engine had rusted through so I'm guessing this is the reason why it's been running lean? Lack of cooling from the EGR system making the car run hot? After we turned it on again it was about ready to fly away because the choke was so wide open or the idle was so high. After an idle adjustment which I don't think did much (the screw wasn't touching) and restarting the car it wasn't rocketing into orbit. Now there's another reason to rebuild the carb.

Oh and I checked the tire pressure for the Wagon. It was fine. (I'll make this relevant yet. :p)

Just bought a set of hubcaps (those are hard to find here in Germany) with bleached center caps. I've tried to give them some color back, but the remaining old paint is hard to get rid of. Anyway, the result is okay for me...

Those hubcaps look very good! Hang around some pot holes and maybe you will find more.

Just soldered new capacitors into the cruise control amplifier for the Mercedes, you have to love being able to replace a few dollars worth of components on the old boards instead of having to replace the whole unit.

i'm not sure if this would work as i've only heard it works for yellowed plastics, but perhaps try using some hydrogen peroxide on them (either submerged in it or make a paste, there's videos on youtube) and put it under a black light, that trick seems to work for yellowed plastics but not sure about clear ones, figured it's a suggestion though.

Just ordered airlift air bags at http://4wheelonline.com. Bought one to solve the rear end sag problem when hauling heavy loads. I will post pictures once I'm done installing them.
