I didn't really think about it, but I guess it makes sense that the newer style car would have the newer style bulb, huh?

I got busy during that last post. I meant to also post what else I did.

I've completed the first step of my center console customization today. I wired up two additional 12v outlets to the sides of the console. Now I don't have to use a splitter on the outlet in the ashtray. I can still use that one, but it gets in the way of any drinks I have. Since I really only use it on long trips, it can be kind of a hassle sometimes.

I'm interested in this, I want to do the same thing. Figure I can add cup holders and a place to put aftermarket radio as well.

You're right, just sort of glazed over you were asking about dash lights.
I'd look at Autozone online and see if they have the dash ones as well.

The original dash bulbs ( for fords) is the 194 socket type. I have seen them and have been very temped to buy some. My dash lights are also very dim. I have found that if you replace the head light switch (again older fords) the rheostat for the dash lights is part of that assembly and it helped a lot. The dash lights where much brighter after replacement. Still would like to update to the LED's. soon......:)

I'm liking your mods. I need to get busy....
Is that an aftermarket console, or one you build? What's the material?

And.....would Radio Shack have those LED's, or just an ordinary auto parts store?

I don't know if radio shack has them or not. I didn't see any of them at autozone or pep boys either. For a 10-pack of them it was about $8.00 on ebay.

The consoles are custom builds, both front and back. I was so tired of not having cupholders!
You can see the build with pictures under my wagon thread.

It was pretty simple, and it gives me the room to do more additions, including those 12v outlets I added. I'm considering whether I want to put some air ducts to the rear console and put some vents for the passengers or not. I just don't know whether it will make enough of a difference to make it worth the effort or not.

Either way, whether I put in vents or decide against it, I am planning on running a 700-800 watt power inverter under the front console, to have outlets mounted on the rear console for the kids, once they get old enough to want to have things plugged in.

Nice day so I worked on the 66 2dr Nomad conversion outside and mounted the right fender. Grandsons checked out their future ride. Ran out of gas so they helped push it back into the barn when I was done.

I put a 9C1 sway bar on the front of the Starship. It seems to turn a lot flatter.

Also had the front windshield replaced. It had a big chip in it, and leaked under the bottom edge. I hope the new one stays glued in place and keeps the water out of my passenger's side foot well. I am tired of squishy carpets.

Sounds like the time Dad took my brother and I out into the Cascade foothills on a hike; when we got back to the car (a '66 Bug convertible), the battery was dead. Guess who got to push to start it....:slap: Oh, and about 2 or 3 miles down the road, the throttle cable snapped.:taz:

And you got to push it home....130 miles, uphill all the way?
I loved the older VW beetles. Only bad VW I had was a squareback.

got my 1949 pontiac cheiftan hood ornimate in for my 59 wagon. yes i know the wagon din't come with a ornimate but due to my patinaed ratrodish looking wagon and a good curve on the V body lines i felt like adding a older ornimate to it. will post pics when the weather decides not to be so crummy outside.
