Lets stop the squabbling. There is no need for anyone to moderate posts other than the moderators. If you think that a post is out of line, then just notify the moderators, and let us do our job. In this instance, I find nothing objectionable in the posts, and it is merely a case of one member helping another. If there was a problem, it would be dealt with appropriately.
    Thanks

I've been doing a few little things to the Mercury. Last replacement part was the driver's side front window motor about three months ago. Coming up shortly will be a tune-up, oil change and air, oil, and fuel filter changes.

Next BIG thing is replacing the damn air conditioning compressor that I replaced last year!!! It started to act up this past week in the 95* spell we've had. Not very happy with that.

I've been looking for a replacement leather front seat for the car, and have had a LOT of difficulty in doing so. Mine is severely cracked (was a Florida car originally) and is tearing on the driver side bolster.

Besides drivin my wagon almost everyday since I bought it on April 15th I've been trying to get the clock running.
No luck, so I bought a reconditioned clock on eBay.
Other eBay finds are the NOS taillight lenses that I put on the car a couple of weeks ago.

    What I've done lately

Well, I figure I can contribute to this thread since I still don't have the title to my wagon so I can't actually drive and enjoy it (thanks New York State DMV). I drove the Colony Park to my shop down the street and fixed the A/C system. The previous owner had replaced a couple of hoses and the accumulator. I finished the job by replacing the last 2 hoses, the compressor and the condensor, the oriface (installed a new variable oriface) and the pressure switch (set for R134A). The only original piece is the evaporator core (i really don't want to change that). I replaced everything so I could convert it to R134A and not worry about incompatibility.
The old oriface was packed with sandy grit. Everything else went really well. I was very surprised at how easily the condensor was replaced. I just did a condensor on my MIL's 2003 Envoy and it took the better part of 3 hours. The Mercury took about 30 minutes. The hardest part was getting the garter springs to release the hoses.
All in all it took me an easy-going 2 hours. It works great now. It will be nice to have A/C when I finally can drive the car!!

Well *I* made a little progress today. I got some bolts back in place and was about to put the water pump back on and realized that my bolts to the water pump are gone! With that said I am going to have to go tomorrow and get some bolts before proceeding. I have also discovered that I am missing a hose clamp and all of my belts... not sure what happened to them. I also got the coil put back on and hooked back up.

After that, I could go no further, so I did some yard work and washed my new car. :)

Went to the big box home impurvement store yesterday. I'm going to build some storage shelves for the garage. I needed 3/4 plywood sheets (3) and some 2x4's. Of course, we took the Way Back Machine. Interesting find - the plywood sheets (4'x8') slid into the wagon fine, but they still stuck out a bit onto the lowered tailgate - so I had to drive home like that. And this was with the front seats all the way forward.

I'm a bit confused KK, I've had sheets of plywood in my Buick and had to move the seat up.... but I was able to close the tail gate.:hmmm:

    Blew my mind.....

OK, so I've been a bit slack on my cars this past year, taken care of them when it comes to oil changes, dis "n" dat , kept them washed but neglected the shine etc..... been a bugger of a year:banghead3:....:rofl2:

So as I mentioned in another thread I was going to spit polish, then my old polisher fried so I bout a new one..... then my zillion years old polishing crap turned to stone also when I went to use it:banghead3:

So I got and tried for the first time ever Guy Smileys over microwaved sun tanned crap for the first time ever.....and what's up with his teeth???? he's creepy IMO....

    [IMG]...:49:..........

If I saw him in a school yard I'd call the police!:rofl2:

Any way, his cheep junk blew my mind! I attacked the Olds hood tonite and I wasn't expecting what I got in the end! I still will wax but holy crap it turned out good!

My new polisher on the right and a friends on the left, and the junk I used tonight.....

Pics don't show it well but I tried the stuff on the parts wagon, you can kinda see the four colours..... drab, 1st,2nd, and 3rd polish.....

Then I attacked 1/2 the hood of the blue one, it's getting dark and even in the shade I thought holy crap!....

So the sun was going down but across the street it was shining so I drove over and WOW!

Took all of 20 minutes! Wax will happen;)

And..... I love my drive way, 5 deep and 2 wide when I need it.... 1 van and 4 wagons.....

I even flashed up the beateor....cup of gas in the carb, fast start and slam into drive....then the stall and it rolled out of my way up to Deb's mini van:rofl2:..... I seriously have to get the gas tank hooked up!

The tank looks good in my eyes, even Deb's. She hounded me to get it happening. Weird patina on this one, it's clearly never been hit or repainted but....WTF???

And I moved the Buick to the back, she blew the exhaust so that will need some TLC:banghead3: She still looks good though, sounds horrible at the moment but still looks good;)

I've never tried any of the Meguiars stuff. Supposed to be pretty good from what I've heard. And yeah, every time I see Barry Meguiar on TV I do get a bit uncomfortable.

As to the plywood fiting in the back, it's possible I didn't slide them all the way forward (I thought I did...) or maybe these sheets are a little on the long side - I dunno.

I bet the patina on the Beateor got that way from how it was parked everyday - part of the car got in the shade, part stuck out in the sun? But the clear difference between the fender and the door makes me wonder if the factory painted those pieces differently, i.e., different time, different paint, different person applying the paint? Still looks cool to me!

I wondered the same on both comments, especially how it would/could have been painted and put together at the factory.

    nother choice

Been using stuff from Griots Garage for 2 decades on all my stuff. He self develops his products and uses them on his own cars. Also used in the Peterson and Lemay car collections. Give it a look. Like what you did to the wagon, and your collection.

Well I spent yesterday washing the fleet and puttering in the yard. I also washed the engine in the Crewzer. I just misted it with simple green a couple times and hosed it off. Clean to my liking, it's clean. I'm not a fan of the buttered shine look, to me that allways attracts more dust etc. Was going to remove roof rack and do the magor polish today as it was overcast and cool out but mother nature had other plans and it started raining:cry:

    Clean......

I've also gotton rid of those crap 5/16 battery cables....gawd I hate those things! Other than that it's Mom and Pop stock
