    That's the Taft Building, Vine & Hollywood. Both buildings are still standing and that tunnel in the distance over the hill is the 101 underpass on Hollywood Blvd. You were only a block away ;-)

    Judging by the black license plates with 7 digits and the cars in the photo, it's probably 1954-1955 or so.

    Thanks for the correction. I appreciate this. Didn't think to check out the Hollywood and Vine area. And I had my directions messed up. I had assumed the pic was looking west, when in actuality it was looking north.

    This I believe is Main St. in downtown. Sadly it's very much a former shadow of itself as most E. TN towns are these days. Most of the buildings are pretty sad or gone. The Sterchi Brothers sign is a true TN staple of a gone era.

    I would go with Main Street or Market Street from what I remember from being there in college. Either one would have the hill at the end where Interstate 26 would now be close to.
