Portage la Prairie Manitoba .... 1954 .... Tony's Grocery Main st North ... small building but thriving business .... one of those panel wagons was still around in the 1980's ... faded paint but body was still straight and no rust showing.

When Tony was near retirement he bought a new 1959 Cadillac 4-door hardtop with all the bells and whistles and huge fins ... it was a salmon-pink color , white roof and white leather interior .... all three of those cars would be collectors items now.... but back then they were just everyday items.

The yellow banners say "Grand Opening" on them. So I assume this was the first day folks were let in. Looks like it was a pretty big deal.

upload_2022-2-18_17-0-22.png The car I thought it was gonna be getting for my 15th birthday, but dad traded it in for a new 78 LTD for my mom. My dad’s 76 County Squire parked next to it.

Yeah, my first 'first car,' Grandpa Fred's '66 Delta 88, was sideswiped in downtown Seattle when Mom was driving home from work one morning. So it was traded in on Mom's 1980 Silverado pickup. Phooey.
