Wagons in vintage Street scenes

Hard to make out but looks to be a '54

 

There was an impeccable '53 Mercury Monterey wagon exactly like this one of the cover of the recent Talegate Magazine put out by ISWC. What a great shot!

 

Could this cool '59-'60 Rambler Custom possibly be parked in front of a Howard Johnsons??? Check out that orange roof.

 

Springfield Massachusetts

 

As was the fashion at the time, Clippard-Dodekopf located in Independence, MO, elevated their Ramblernaut sales campaign to new heights by hiring Duke the DJ and a crane to promote the sale. Duke apparently worked for a local radio or tv station at the time. Rockets and space flight were at the center of the public’s attention in this circa 1960 period; note the fabricated and painted tail fins attached to the rear of the Rambler station wagon. A brief search did not turn up any information about the Rambler agency.
