As soon as the wagon's test-driven bg the shop, they'll know. It's how I found out that the gro.met was gone on my bro's former '90 Town Car.

Driving home 1 night, 89 Colony Park, on the highway back in 1992 - all of a sudden car started to slow down and wouldn't go over 45mph. revved like crazy - lost all the bans but the 1st - even back then cost over 2 grand to fix.

And I bet that was a broken cable end (lousy plastic!) or grommet (turned into lousy plastic then broke).

that what it was - over 2 grand in repairs because of $14.00 part - well engineered and craftsman at work! the arrogance of American auto industry at the time

Yep my grommet cost less than $5 to replace. My transmission job Cost me $400? I think. But I had to pull it out and then drive it to a friends house though. And it tied up a rack in the shop for a week

Tied up a rack? Not enough muscle to push the car out of the shop?

It was a tight space. We're already using the church lot next door, we move it out, we'll have to move it back in, we can do jobs underneath it, rain, the scrapers, homeless, and various vagrants, all milling about the alley way! These were all my excuses for leaving on the lift. After everyone went home though, i did a lot of work on it...:hmmm:so that was also convenient

Ah, OK, that does make sense. Usually, a shop won't allow a worker's car to stay on the rack, because paying customers.
