There's another kind of grease, based on beeswax that was used on door levers and window cranks. It forms a skin on top and keeps the dust away from the metal and tracks. I just can't recall the type. Ask a GM or Mopar dealer???

Ain't nuthin' like shucking some freshly caught West Coast clams on a Saturday morning on Tofino Beach on Vancouver Island. Nummers guys, just plain melts in your mouth.:biglaugh: Well, almost nuthin'...

Here in Teaxs you can go get some oysters off the rock jetties in Galveston. After your hands are bleeding from breaking them off the rocks, you can pry the little bastards open and enjoy a tiny morsel of mercury infested, gravel laced seafood!

I recall landing in Dallas once, on my way to New Orleans, and eating in an Airport restaurant. I ordered a beer and shrimps. The waitress asked me how many shrimps! WHAT?!! I said? Up here, on the West Coast, shrimps are about an inch long! Who'd count them?:biglaugh:

She recommended no more than 6 and she was right! My gawd, those things are well fed. Must be the Texas longhorns.:biglaugh::biglaugh::evilsmile:

    Hey guys,

I just posted "clamshell window assembly" to better show the parts of this system, and it's operation.

I mistakenly put it in the "Cosmetic & Restoration" section, instead of "General Automotive Tech".

    Check it out! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

    David :)

hey all so a month or so ago the way back window started only to close at the dash switch, not open. Key worked fine (power gate as well) I assumed it was the switch because it worked fine from the rear key. I figured I would swap the switches and send the bad one to hydro-e-lectric to get rebuilt (convertible top place I figured similar switch)

not so easy. to get to the switch is easy enough, radio knobs, facia pops off, switch pops out (wire is short, no connector at switch, let the games begin) My mechanic starts to grumble "OMG you're kidding did they really do this???" to himself out load (I was watching and ready for a cocktail until he figured it out)

It seems that the innards of the dash is this elaborate metal "scafolding" with cutouts to run harnesses. The problem comes with the sizes of the hole and the plug on the end of the harness.

After he got it all sorted out and the switches swapped (different connector for glass & gate switches, on diff sides of dash frame, all connectors tight tight fits like a puzzle to get them through I was nauseas watching) and reconnected, the test yielded disappointing results.

The working switch from the tailgate now only opened the window from the dash! The exact opposite of what was happening before (turns out it was a bad connection at the switch pigtail)

But all of this got me thinking - I LOVE driving the Custom Cruiser with all the windows open on the expressway - it's like being on a cruise ship! and who doesn't love a cruise, really???

A nice week: new windshield no deductible, window fixed, oil change, 3 tanks of gas and 1 car wash and squeaky wire wheel cover silenced at last man that was awful

I love my wagon but it is a handful and a half

I assume the motor on yor car is the same as on the Buick estate, and the kingswood... As a tip; The motor of a Blazer K-series will bolt right on. Rally affordable too...:)
