On a personal note I also prefer vehicles where the engine is under the hood... not the dashboard... bias I know because not all vans are so bad at that... But I am and always will be a wagon lover.

As for riding in the back... I went on a road trip to KC with some friends and we took turns riding in the back... of a 1980's Cadi Victoria hearse. When it comes to braking and quick acceleration that polished hardwood and the casket rollers would send you from one end to another... It was fun. Til some one cut us off and then my head hurt.

When I was a kid, anybody who drove a wagon with a 3rd row, and would haul us around, would end up dealing with kids fighting over who got to sit in the 'way back'.
