Sounds like a great plan, DW. That's going to be one beautiful Squire when you get er done. I remember that blue, it's a gorgeous color.
You go, dw! Pix can be very deceiving. From your description, I would have to do the same thing you are doing.
I saw a guy get the Patina effect by painting the car with regular old indoor latex paint with a brush, and leaving it sit for a year. Seems the latex etches past the old automotive paints and primers and starts the soft rust cycle.
No worries DW I was just messin with you as far as the name, my Cobra is Black so the guys in my club jokingly call me Blacksnake, and I will def let you know if and when I get the tailgate motor, and yes I do still have the roof rack, you Interested? Let me know, Oak PS Its kinda cool lookin at the color sheet, my sons car (62 Fairlane) is Peacock Blue with Corithian White top, I didint know that color was addded later, pretty cool!
Shopping Trolley That 65 Fairlane is in yard called Apache in South Ft Worth. The wagon had been clean except for my complete winder/regulator and excellant condition metal spare tire cover that I needed(just need to paint it). $35 for the lot It was my lucky day. They have trolleys there so you can push your tools aroundand load up your loot! Most of the surface is beat up concrete so it is still an effort but better than lugging stuff around. Thar car was 500 metres from the front gate. Hey Wixom thanks for the paint char,t very interesting those paint codes will be handy when I go to have the paint mixed
You texans are spoiled. Paved junkyards! We get Manitoba gumbo/clay. Not even a canoe to paddle through the swamps.
Urrrrgh!!! Well thought I would get the Squire back last week. The mechanic calls me up as the last thing needed to be done was service the transmission. "I've got good news and bad news." The bad news is I have no top gear in my 2speed fordomatic. The good news was my drive shaft was bent(when the old girl was dragged from her resting place on flat tires), But! the one in his 64 hardtop would fit Luckily he is turning it into a Thunderbolt clone so doesn't need the drivetrain. It had a 260 with a Foramatic which is sitting in his shed,YeaH!! So the bottom line is he is installing the driveshaft and 2 speed for $300 which I think is very reasonable. The catch is he doesn't know what shape his 2 speed is in. I could be back to square one. Am keeping my fingers crossed. Here's a couple of snaps with it's new windsceen in on a balmy 105 degree day back in Texas. I will never complain about summer in Australia again. Take care you'll.
Cool, d dub! At least you HAVE a tranny & drive shaft. Frankly, I would have had it checked out before installing it but you could get lucky and it will last a long time. Anyway....I love that wagon!
ah yes, riding the yz in miami manitoba,. getting stuck in the gumbo, 500 ft from dry land, frying the clutch plates,. 3hrs to retrieve the bike ,. fun? times Not a lot of parts inside the old fordamatics, should be reasonably cheap to repair,. nick
dw, I have nothing but great respect for generous Texans. You've got a good guy on your team down there. The wagon is looking healthier every time!
Did you know that Miami, MB has more daylight than Miami Florida, by 21 minutes! I doubt the retirement crowd would leave their palm trees though.
