It's the "or what?" that bothers me. Last week I recieved a email from a screen name I had never heard of. I Can't remember the name:oops:, I delited it with out opening. But a it was titled with a srceen name with Station Wagon Forums in the title. I never heard of the name so I searched the site for it and could'nt find it...DELITE!

Who knows what can virus could happen.

Yeah, I got one of those and deleted without opening. I use Outlook 2003 and it let's me check 'Properties' without activating any malicious script or code. Kicked it out.

We now have our first moderator, Junk :) . He volunteered to help combat the spammers.

I may add another moderator to deal with spammers, depending on what time zone they are in. If anyone is interested, please send me a PM.

    Congrats Junk:cheers::wave::pub:

Kinda sad in a way, The site has gotton so big that "us" as a group can't keep up with the riff raff. Lets hope we don't turn into a site where to much policing when it comes to threads and questions being asked are refered to "use the search, this has been asked before 10 years ago etc, etc," rather than helping members. Alot of sites have gone to the dogs so to say because.

I can how ever think of a few good members I'd want as Mods if it came to it

How I try to keep thing lvl mod wise is make sure and not to just pick the folks who agree with me. That way there is always a real 2nd opinion on things and not just yes men. And then once you have enough let the group decide as a whole, avoiding unilateral decisions where you can.

That’s just stuff I learned from being a member of let say bad forums.
Places that were out of hand with too much or to little control.

So, looking at who's on line tonight there were two names that I wasn't sure about: Google Spider and a Yahoo! Spider.

Are those people or ?????? is spider some form of cookie or ??????

Just wondering. Hadn't notice those before, and both on at the same time.

OK, forget it, went out and Googled "spiders" and found out what they are. I've got to do that more often. I learned a whole bunch of new stuff just now.

I only mod my the sites I own, that's enough work for me.
Though not as much when you have other mods.
Other sites like this are my haven where I can just be a normal user and don't have to have some mod hat on.

    ViragoTech.com
    ViragoTechForum.com
    BuickThunder.com
    BuickThunderForum.com
    ThirdGenChat.org

first two are my main success sites, started in 02, forum in April of 03, been doing to well kinda as we got kicked off of our host a few weeks back for using to much CPU and had to upgrade to our own server.

others are still small with burst of activity at times then lulls of activity.
So they are still on cheap hosting that need little attention.

Though not hugh yet, we can still get by on donation and don't need to sell adds, any banners or link you see are put up for free cause its a good service or product. Big sites have 10,000 daily active members n rack in that add dou, we only have 150-300 active registered users online in a 36 hr peroid with lots of lookie lou's.......

They collect info for their Search Engines. That's why I never use the Tag features on a forum. Bad enough I find Canadian company ads on BBC's Weather forecast website in London, England. Big Brother and his crew never sleep.
