Three months and four alternators later the problem was solved. I rewired the circuit, and the missing link was a 1-watt light on the circuit!
I washed it Wednesday, Thursday was my birthday...I went antiquing with the Missis. I burned up two tanks of gas in five days! Great fun 20230615_152714.jpg

My Guitar friend/instructor is negotiating to get this Ford Falcon 2 door. It runs but needs lots of cosmetic work. I'll let ya'll know if he gets it.

It looks to be very straight. Are there any rust issues?

I haven't seen it in person. Do you know if these have a history of rust issues?

I hope to see it soon.

All cars that old, that are unibody, will tend to do so in the cowls, floorboards and quarters. Look at all the glass and door seals first, anything rotted or missing, follow up on. Then use a flashlight under dash, down into the cowl and in the front door 'armpits' for unusual rusting.

Have many more birthdays. They are highly underrated. You spent your birthday doing two things we love to do.

Have you ever seen God act in your life? I was on the freeway Wednesday, cruising along at 75 when I came upon a traffic jam. Sarge doesn't do well in zero MPH traffic especially with the air blowing. So, I got off the freeway. I first red light I came to I noticed that the brake pedal felt a bit different. I turned the corner and stepped on the brake again...it went halfway to the floor! Now all my senses are heightened. I was coming to another red light and there was about 6 cars waiting. This time the pedal went to the floor!! I veered into the left turn lane to avoid hitting the waiting cars. I wasn't going very fast but the brakes were almost non existent. I sat there for a minute and waited for the traffic to clear. I creeped over to a gas station and called AAA.
I thanked God that night for sparing me and Sarge. I put it on jack stands this morning and saw the right rear brake cylinder was leaking. I called four auto part stores in Houston and the surrounding area without luck. I went through my cabinet of parts and to my surprise, I had a brand new cylinder on the shelf. :)
When I finished the cylinder job, I rechecked the brake fluid level and to my surprise, the front reservoir was half full. I pulled the front tires and couldn't find a leak on the calipers. (disc brakes) I pulled the Master Cylinder and found fluid in the MC.
I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what MC/booster is the correct replacement. After church tomorrow I'll go by the Q'Reilly hub store which supposedly has a guy whose been there a while and maybe able to help me. If he can't figure it out it will be Monday before I can poll all my classic car guys and shops. That means it may not be ready for the 4th of July:-( But I am still Blessed

The casting number on the MC is 5461803. The only numbers on the booster are 5225

You too, eh? Yeah, I was driving the Burb in Seguin, came around a curve, stopped traffic, hit the stop pedal...brakes began fading...held the pedal still, and the ABS kicked in on the front, causing me to begin fishtailing. Stopped in time, but after limping to the Exxon at I-10 and SH123, I found the right rear brake line had rusted through at the spring plate/U-bolt. *sigh* A new armored brake line will be at NAPA Thursday morning. Oh, and I limped very carefully all the way home to New Braunfels. Had many peeps mad at me for going slow and long braking distances.

Oh, and the driver seat broke where someone had previously crappily welded it. Weld had snapped right down the center. I'll be going to the junkyard Thursday morning for a seat, and picking up my brake line on the way home.

Must be the season. Last Sunday we were cruising in the Country Sedan and my brake pedal was right at the top. I thought it was odd, but it braked good so we continued on. We got to an intersection at a small town red light and the pedal went all the way to the floor. Same with me - pulled the hubs on the rear and the left rear wheel cylinder leaking, that also drained the master cylinder in that reservoir.
