I used to know a joke about a guy who drove a Porsche, and hired a guy to paint his front Porch green. When he came out of the house he saw his Porsche had been painted green with a roller. He yelled at the guy about it, but he was hard of hearing. That’s the only Porch/Porsche joke I know.
Similar premise Mercman. A Gentleman is in his front yard and a Hobo comes along. He stops and asks the Gentleman if he has any work he needs done like yard work, or painting, etc. The Gentleman says "Yes, in fact I do. I want to have my porch painted. It's at the back of the house. You'll find the green paint in the garage." The Hobo says "say no more Sir, I'll make it look like new!" The Hobo goes to the back of the house and the Gentleman goes inside. A couple of hours later the Hobo rings the doorbell and announces that he has finished. But as the owner is stepping out of the door to go and take a look the Hobo mentions "oh, and by the way sir, that isn't a Porsche, it's a Ferrari."
One can openly laugh at both of your jokes. Mine has to be laughed at in secret, anymore. What's that I hear?
I'm surprised that I haven't added anything to this thread for a while. We have been thoroughly enjoying the 59 now that it's restoration has been completed. Last weekend the Tri Cities Mustang club was coming through Yakima for a cruise and invited the Yakima club to join them. My neighbor is the president of the Yakima Mustang club and he's always inviting me and the boys to join them on their outings. Usually I drive the F-100, but it's still under the knife getting the EFI squared away. So, instead we borrowed the Fairlane. The boys and I and their friend Stevie got the car Saturday morning, did a quick wash and then headed off for the days adventure. First we met at a local park. As we were pulling up a number of folks that were already there whooped and hollered with excitement. I wasn't expecting that! Then we drove to another park for lunch. After that we cruised through the Yakima River canyon to Ellensburg. It was pretty fun driving along in a small convoy of cool cars. We got lots of thumbs up as we rumbled along. After we got to Ellensburg everyone went their separate ways. We decided it was the perfect opportunity to visit the Red Horse Diner on the old two lane highway outside of town. It's an old Mobil Gas gas station that has been converted to a restaurant. We stopped in for shakes and rootbeer floats before taking some photos of the Fairlane out in front of the old pumps. Stevie, noted "that car was made for this spot" I think that's a pretty good assessment After that it was time to head back home. All in all it was a great adventure, the boys and I had a great time.
Mustangs everyone and their mother has had a mustang at one point and time. That 59 convertible tho?! Reaaaaaaal nice! Looking good!!!! Best in show by far that day!
