Passenger side header. I just had to hammer that one pipe for clearance. I also installed a Mr. Gasket oil filter relocation kit. The stock oil filter would have been resting on the header.

I thought the drivers side header would have been a lot worse. It just dropped in, easy as can be even with the mini starter in.

I'm getting the hood squared away now. Had to weld up some areas with rot and weld a nut to the area where the hood bolts on the hinge. The old one rotted loose.

Do you have rubber engine mounts. I wonder if your header will hit when the motor is under heavy torque.

Yes but I made sure to ding the pipe enough to give me some clearance for that. I will know for sure once it's up and running.

This car is fighting me at every turn but I am getting it done. I've mounted the pulleys, alternator, power steering pump and radiator. Going to the parts store to get new hoses and belts.
I finished the hood. Cleaned up the underside. Mice made a home in the past so I tried to get out as much acorns and such as I could. The underside is painted with a good chassis paint similar to POR-15.

There was an issue with the trans dust shield. The flex plate bolts were hitting it. I had to pull it off and bang out a few dents.
Now to clean up more parts. I have the carb linkage to sandblast and paint.

I also had to make a little bracket to hold the starter wires away from the header.
    Progress progress progress.

Count to ten (twenty if needed) Then proceed! Good to hear you're making progress, albeit the frustration.

It's kind of like being a veterinarian and tending to a wounded animal. They fight you all along the way and you can't explain to them it's for their own good!

I poured in 5 quarts of oil. Made a shaft to pre-lube the engine and get oil circulating. Used my cordless drill and let it get oil in the system. Since I don't have any power hooked up yet I couldn't tell if there was pressure from the gauge. I figured I would loosen the oil filter. Well oil came out and fast! Had to quickly screw it back tight. Pre-lube good.

Pretty much have the engine together. Carb linkage is all I have left to do. I just ordered some stuff to hopefully finish that.

Now on to the transmission. I have the cooler and I have to make up all new lines for that. Installing the Winters Sidewinder gated shifter should be fun. Good thing daylight savings is over this weekend.
