I had a room mate from Greensboro, NC in the 70's in University on a Sports scholarship. I was the President of the Student Union/Exec back then in Engineering, so I got a nice basement suite near campus. This guy played every sport on campus. Our landlord lived upstairs and was a foreman at one of our big Beef plants. Every cut of the best steaks, roasts, chops, etc. in two huge freezers parked right in front of our interior exit, and we had our own private exit from the suite to the outside.

This guy ate Kraft Dinners! No meat! The landlord was a sports nut and loved to watch our college teams play, so he gave us a key to the freezers. It pained me to see this guy eat nothing but Macaroni and Cheese. It was 17 cents a box back then, and we had legal, free access to the best meat in the country. I and my ladies and pals ate VERY well. I don't know how he did it. To this day, I will not eat Kraft Dinner. He ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner AND TV snacks!!!

I stay away from Kraft dinners. I don't like them. Maybe that was all he knew how to cook? I met my wife and got married in Greensboro 21 years ago and live 35 minutes from there now. But we are planning a move out west around March.

My mom taught me to bake, but I really got good with cooking when I got into University, after the Army. Army food was ok, but all this gorgeous meat just cranked me up. I had more cookbooks when we got married than my wife had ever seen. She reads them now, and I let her experiment. She's getting the knack after 12 years.

I saw a real nice Escort, similar vintage, pull up to my neighbour's house. What a pretty car! No rust! the cleanest interior I've ever seen! Shining like a new penny! Forget the Pinto, you almost need a shoehorn and vaseline to crawl into the seat. The Escort is a humane car.

Do a reverse sale! :biglaugh: Smooth-talk him into keeping the Pinto and buying your wheels. They are nice though - 13" right?

I liked the pep in the Pinto, but what a pain to get in and out of. Once you're in, they are impressive! I'm not that big or 'rotund' but I found them too hard to get into. IMHO.

I wouldn't get a Lamborghini, 'Vette or Jag XKE for the same reason. Heck bring back the big Running Boards from the 1920's! ;)

Tomorrow is an Anniversary for me, I blew up my nice 302-V8 in my own backyard after fixing an oil leak and installing a factory rebuilt carb I bought on the way home from getting an oil-leak dye test. I figured that I could fix the oil leak at the back of the intake manifold, and while I had it off, I'd change the carb too! I bought new plugs and Bosch ignition wires and points (Mexican Ford). Got the manifold on, got the carb on, changed the oil and antifreeze, checked the belts, and somehow, shivering in cold weather, I dropped a bolt into the carb. I never noticed. My teeth were chattering too much! Cranked her up and she went to fast idle - for about 10 seconds and then clunk, clunk, clunk.

Before I left the dealership that does the real fine stuff for me, I asked if anyone was trying to flog a Fairmont on a trade-in and the owner gave me a name of a retired politician who had just had the motor and tranny rebuilt by the dealer 5 or 6 months before. 2 days later, I got the car, and 3 days later I had the motor and tranny out. December 23, 2006, I put the 200 CID six and tranny in. It was -10C, but no wind. There it stayed until March.

It just breaks you up when that clunk, clunk, clunk starts. :badwords: :badwords: :badwords: :floor_jack:

Ok, I'm sorry. Good luck with search.

But it's funny that you've got the shoes for it and no feet (car). :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
