I'm pulling for her Ian....I really am. I don't ask the big guy for much but I'm asking tonight. You and your wife hang in there, too, and give that little one your strength and prayers.
ok so, she is heavily sedated still, and they are keeping her cool till sunday then they are gonna bring her temp back up slowly. she has 3 holes in her heart. 2 are there naturally at birth but should have gone away by now and 1 is not.....the cardiologist said that they are not big enough to need surgery now and she may never need it for them. but she also said the heart malformitys are not the cause of the cardiac arrest on wed night. so far we dont know the cause but there are more tests to come today...she is getting a cat scan here in an hour or so. and an MRI on monday morning. the good news is when they ease up on the sedation a little she opens here eyes and tries to cry (cant cry on a ventilator) and grabs mine and jens fingers.... which makes both of us cry for her. the eeg came back normal too. but that just means she isnt brain dead (which..dont get me wrong, is a blessing...i just want my laughing happy daughter back)
We're all pulling for her and you. I'm sure we all have been anxiously awaiting your reports and it's great to hear things seem to be under control.
All we can do is think positive and continue to pull fot that little one, Ian. I'm still in touch with the big guy on this one. Hang in there, pal.
Hang in there, Ian; it sounds to me like she couldn't be in better hands as the doctors can do amazing things. I'm sure they'll find out what the problem is and you'll have your sweetheart of a daughter back home before you know it. Godspeed to the little angel.
Ian, I am so glad your daughter is in good hands there at the hospital. You have been on my mind and I have been praying for your daughter and your whole family. David
update 2/13/10 ok so we had a cat scan last night, one on her head and one on her chest. the head scan came back normal the chest one however, showed a spot in the wall between the sides of her heart. we wont know for sure till the MRI but it is either a ball of muscle or a tumor (not cancer) either one may require open heart surgery. either of these two things can cause arythmia so we may have our answer as to the cause. we have the MRI monday ..maaaaaybe tomarrow, and the cardiologists discuss it with the panel as to the best course of action be it surgery or medication and growth. thanks for your contunued prayer. -Ian
she has a real good set of parents Ian that's very cool to watch (albeit from afar) keep breathing.... sounds very manageable awesome job, you are a good example of a good example.
Thanks, Ian. Good of you to keep us updated during what has to be a traumatic time. Sounds like the cause has been determined and now the docs can get more pix through the MRI and decide a course of action. With the technology and MD training now days I'm sure it will be a successful outcome. No man should have to go through what you have in the last months, my friend. Yet you are standing tall and even come here to inform your friends of updates on your daughter. My friends know me as a tough guy but I wilt in the light of your fortitude and resilience. I'm proud to have you as a friend and we are all lucky to have you as a member of our wagon family. I'm still trying to push the big guy in your little one's direction. Keep the faith, pal.
