Thanks for the picture of the Mercury convertible. I remember a yellow one with the wood like trim in my neighborhood when I was growing up.
Its nice that the guy has the breakdown by option. It gets a little crazy when it comes down to being one of three because of the the type of seatbelts it has. I would rather have seen how many of the 1111 convertibles had the optional woodgrain trim rather than how many green ones with gold interior and black tops had the woodgrain trim.
Funny, this car doesn't look green and the interior doesn't look gold.
1111 convertibles is a low number in any form, with or without the woodgrain trim.

The owner didn't make this little info plaque. There was some service he wrote to and paid money to that prepared a framed thing that included this info plaque as well as a reproduction of the window sticker and some other documents.

I figured that was the case, but to me its just the tip of the iceberg. How many cars that may well be rare enough as it is, are suddenly ultra rare 1 of 1 or 1 of 5 because of some insignificant option?
The rusted out 4 speed 69 Chevelle Concours wagon for sale, at the GM show at Carlisle last weekend, was a "1 of 1" car. But, was it 1 of 1 because it was a 4 speed, or was it 1 of 1 because it was a 4 speed but also had some insignificant option like maybe a pedal dress up trim or an ash tray light or something?
Just a thought, and that Park Lane convertible is a nice ride and very rare regardless of what seat belts it has.

To me all of these "One of" and other things making a car rare are only important to the non-hobbyist looking to make money off a car. If it's got a motor, tranny, and is all together, that's what makes it an automobile. Those other things are just trophys on wheels. :1st:

I would love to go to this show, the only station wagon show ive ever been to, was the show that was in ohio a few years ago put on by american station wagon club of america (ASWOA). and ive always wanted to go to the international club show.

What I was told is that that club is defunct and this one, the International Station Wagon Club, more or less replaced it.

By the way, American Station Wagon Club of America sounds redundant. One too many "America's" there. Unless they were restricting membership to only American-made station wagons. The current club clearly accepts any station wagon as the "International" in their name would suggest. (Kind of like "International" House of Pancakes, right!?)

Interesting. I did find their website

    http://www.aswoa.com/ASWOA/www.aswoa.com/home.html

but it appears not to have been updated since 2006. I didn't see the mention of a show in Dearborn for 2011. They did have a show there in 2001. What website were you looking at that mentions a show this year?

By the way, their name is/was actually American Station Wagon Owners Association, without the "of America" on the end.

The International Station Wagon Club is at www.iswc.us. You can find them quickly by just Googling "station wagon club.'

Never mind! I found their current website, and it does mention a show in Dearborn this year.

    http://aswoa.com/main/

They need to get rid of that old website. It comes up higher than the newer one does on the list on a google search.

The person at the ISWC show who told me that this club is defunct was wrong.

I happen to know that these 2 clubs do not get along which is a shame. Not going to say which club is mostly responsible for this but I do know if you go to one and ask about the others show you usually are told the other is defunct. Too bad...they both have a place in the wagon world.

Actually, I drove 585 miles from Dedham Mass in the 1988 Custom Cruiser and got the long distance award!

The only things that I know about the ASWOA (I am a former member) is that the they don't have their own show. They have their show within another venue. Every time I have heard someone in ISWC respond about the ASWOA, the only thing that I had personally heard was:

1-Many cars on the ASWOA website belonged to former members, who were listed as current ASWOA members.

2-The ASWOA convention being in a joint venue.

We have ISWC members who are members of both clubs and know that they are in existence.
