    From Laird:
"So I met with the director of the music video last night and he went over my Pacer. He said http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Bujalski the director of Computer Chess sent him my way for the car. The filming is next Thursday night for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartless_Bastards in downtown Austin.

Sounds like they will be taking shots of the band in costumes driving around downtown Austin at night. I need to do some repairs on it this weekend! I'll be hanging on the set with everyone. Should be fun!!!

As long as they don't blow it up at the end of the video. As they sometimes do in music videos. :biglaugh:

    One more update from Laird:

"The song is called "Marathon" from their new album called Arrow.
It is a slow rock song... perfect for the video. Which they say will be the band driving around in my car... driving under the neon lights of Austin at night."

So far only the Live version is out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hoe_vLs9AmU

Looking forward to seeing the video!

Laird and the Pacer are downtown right now. He had to be there at three and they said the filming could go through midnight.

He spent the last two days working on the Pacer. Installed a new interior door handle, waxed it and cleaned it inside, put on new battery cables and a new ignition module.. He says it "looks as good as it can look" now.

He just shot me an e-mail. Said they first did a live concert downtown playing the song for the video, and that was filmed, and now the group is in makeup getting ready to start filming around downtown Austin and later in the Pacer.

He sounds like he's having a good time. Fun stuff! Glad the weather held out. There was a chance of storms today but no rain so far and it's in the upper 70's. Nice!

He's going to send me pics later. Will post them up.

Mike - how common was the 'Pacer X' version of the wagon? I don't recall seeing any before Laird's....just the non-wagon version 'X'.

Laird said the video shooting was a lot of fun and he got to hang out with the band.

Here's the Heartless Bastards in front of the Pacer. The video theme was Wizard of Oz...hahahaha

From Laird: "LOL! Can't wait to see the vid. They drove around downtown Austin in my Pacer dressed like that with a huge camera on the hood and the interior lit up like the sun! The shooting went until 1:30am in the morning. Driving home at the intersection of 7th st and I-35 I saw a Lexus smack into a Camry. Drunks...

That goofy AMC Pacer wagon my buddy Laird and I saved from the salvage yard in the 90's is now written about in Rolling Stone! They called it a jalopy, but still!

The new music video Marathon, from the Heartless Bastards, features some great views of downtown Austin Tx and Laird's rolling fishbowl! Very cool!!

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/v...ke-jalopy-to-oz-in-marathon-premiere-20121016 - Video is finally out! Song is not the greatest but it's cool to see the Pacer and views of Austin!

Very cool. Nice cinematography. The Pacer looks great. I think I like it better with the audio off though. I noticed one real nice shot of the Pacer rolling down the street (a still from that scene would make a nice frameable picture). The dog was the best character in the video.
