LORE. Joined in 80 fresh out of Lord Selkirk high, (Lockport boy). One piece of advice, if you're going to use stainless steel fasteners look for ones already polished do so. The amount of hours I spent grinding, filing and polishing was ridiculous, not to mention the toasted fingers. All external bolts, nuts and washers except the long alternator mount bolt are polished SS including the head bolts, the look on the finished engine is worth it though.
Theres a company called Gardner-wescot by me that does stainless hardware. Thanks for the tip!If mine turns out half a well as yours I'll be happy.
A couple things I noticed from your engine pic, the intake manifold is a pre 66 piece and you'll need a new distributor. I'll have to look in the garage but I may have a spare dist if you can't get one closer. If your keeping the intake then I'd suggest removing the oil filler tube and sealing the hole with a frost plug and either moving the the pcv valve to the pass valve cover or putting a fresh air cap/filter there. It really does help unclutter the engine.
Dave, what a cool wagon and your plans for it sound great. I didn't have any idea you could get buckets and a console from the factory back then. Be sure to keep posting pics as you make your way through the restoration. Best of luck.
Console AND coulum shift, guess it's a 6 speed auto with 2 reverse then? Cool wagon bud, but you have to get rid of the colum shifter
The seats and console are from a 65 galaxie.I have a line on a 68 wagon with buckets and a floor shift,to part out.It was an option, just not on mine.
The junkyard gods smiled on me today...I bought a 68 ltd wagon for parts. It has a bucket seat with a floor console,in a nice red interior. Its a sickness.....really!
I like red interiors, I got reproduction front seat covers, carpet and headliner for my 66 from http://www.galaxieparts.com/. Man they've changed the website in the last couple years.
