I just haven't told my wife yet that I plan on keeping it. It's a secret.

Checked with a friend of mine. He will replace the the floorpan for me after he's done with a really bad Olds Cutlass he's finishing up now.

Good news. I told the wife that I want to keep the 65 Belvedere wagon. All is good in the universe.

Talked with a buddy of mine. He will be doing the complete floor pan for me next week. I was planning on doing it myself but I just have too many projects. I need to farm stuff out if I am going to get them done. I may have also found a good spare 273 V8. More on that later.

That's great. It's always satisfying to do something like that yourself, but sometimes it just comes down to time. I actually appreciate seeing folks farm things out when it means getting a project done instead of letting it languish.

My Belvedere wagon has the 273 V8. I went by a local junkyard today to check out a complete 273 that they have in the back of an old box van. The motor does spin freely and it's complete. They told me $250. I said I'll be back next week to grab it. I figure since I never see any for sale I should get it as a spare.

    I think that's a good plan. And $250 for a complete engine? These days I'd say that's a steal!

Ok, update. Got a look at the numbers and pulled the valve cover off. Rockers are non adjustable. It's a 318. So false alarm.

    Yes, I have a few 318s already. I wanted a 273 as a backup for mine.
