He's my kind of wagon master. I was lifting Mopar hoods at one of the JYs looking for a turbo. They're really hard to find. I don't know if our extreme cold affects them or not, but they're like hen's teeth.
Turbos are fairly rare. I seem to remember seeing a greater percentage of Turbo K-cars in the Chrysler LeBaron versions, so pay particular attention to those. Also, you'll find the turbo motors in the Dodge Daytona......
Still haven't given up on her. Life has really happened the last three years and unfortunately hobbies/projects have to be put on hold. Not much has changed but we should be in our new house by summers end and the ol girl will have a garage and I can give her some love.
Life happens to all of us. Sometimes it happens too much. Don't feel bad for that, just post pics when you have the chance. Did you end up swapping the Dakota yet?
Great sleeper. As a kid in the 80's I remember when the Chryco Turbo cars were everywhere. Think most have "popped" now, rare to see them today. I always loved the look and sound of the Lebaron convertibles with the turbos. The mother of one of my best friends in grade school got a brand new '86 Chrysler Laser XT Turbo for her birthday from his Dad. It was blinding red with black leather and t-tops. 5-spd car. Funky digital dash. Totally a top-of-the-line car. I remember she gave me a ride in it and the engine had a neat sound, and as the turbo spooled up it really sucked you into the seat. I was impressed with it. The seats seemed awesome to me, huge bolsters and all sorts of controls. Oh and the car talked too! Your Lights are ON! Ha! They only kept that car two years. Kept having issues with belts squeaking and eventually throwing belts. Then the head gasket blew. Warranty covered it, but right after they traded it in...on a Honda Accord. Memories. Keep the updates coming and good luck! -Mike
Hey C.C. KAH-KAH happens in life. My 1st build took 22 yearz and I'm into the current build almost 10 yearz now.(turboing an '83 Scamp Pickup among many other modz to the little beast) And I just missed out on a rust free LeBaron Turbo Long Roof on Craigslist in Philadelphia last month FOR CHEAP, AAARRRGGGHHHH :banghead3: BTW, G.L. Finding a good Jack shaft if you go equal length shafts with your build. It'z about at the point where you're better off just living with a little torq-steer Jer
