That's just a rough cut. I'm working on the actual shifter hump at the moment. I should post an update later on.
Hello everyone.. It's been a long time since I posted any updates. I've been really busy in my shop and haven't had alot of time to work on the car until lately.
I redone the bottom of the car in the factory colored primer with a satin clear and the engine compartment was done in black paint and with a satin clear as well.
454 rotating assembly is together as well as the T-101 4-speed. I narrowed a 1965 model 12 bolt housing to the stock width of the Vega rearend and grafted the Vega brackets onto the 12 bolt. Wheels will be Cragar S/S 15 x 7 and 15 x 4 1/2. Installed a Hone-O-Drive unit and had to machine/fab the control handle for the interior.
All the vintage speed parts I've been collecting have a date of 1974 or earlier. Car should really look the part of an early to mid-seventies build that has been in a time capsule.
I had Griffin build me a custom radiator based on a drawing that I sent them. The size allowed me to mount the radiator under the core support so as to have more room between the engine and core.
The Vega didn't come with an oil pressure gauge, just an idiot light. I removed the clock from the dash cluster and used an aftermarket oil gauge and put in its place. I had to modify the clock retainer bracket to hold the oil gauge. Looks factory at a glance.
Great little project. Reminds me of the late 60's when I put a 327 in a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite. Mine was primitive by comparison. Chisel, hacksaw, friends gas welder, in driveway. But it worked and with three twos was awesome. Good luck. Anything will fit with determination.
Been wondering where you've been hiding, motion! Thanks for the pictorial update. Solid build standards as usual. Nice work!
