As good as the A-body wagons were, the rear drive B-body wagons soldered on to 1996. I think the C/H body platform would have made for a great wagon. Your Oldsmobile 98 Touring Wagon idea is similar to my Buick Sportwagon idea. Take all the sporty cues of a Volvo XC, Sube Outback, Audi Allroad, and apply them to the A-body Century. I think I even have a picture I photoshopped...

Wheels are from a 2005 LeSabre or 05-09 Lucerne. Gray rubberized trim around the bumpers, wheel arches, and header panel, black out all chrome trim, heavier duty roof rack, leather seats, console and floorshift from a 95+ Riviera, et cetera.

If I could find an AWD Pontiac 6000 wagon I could swap the drivetrain over as well and turbocharge the 3.1 engine. With the right final drive and sticky enough tires, it would put any S line Audis, Volvo T5s or B4/B6 Legacys to shame.

Oh my...Cadillacs and Lincolns. I especially like where this thread started.
I will also agree to the mid-sized Olds/Buicks. When we were in college my wife had an 88' LeSabre Limited Coupe in "Dark Sapphire". The car was gorgeous, drove very nicely, and got up to 30mpg on the highway. Wish we still had it. Similar to the one pictured here although I couldn't find the same color we had.....

I always felt the 92 and post 92 Crown Vics would've made a gorgeous wagon. Never could understand why Ford didn't make it, but then I guess they felt the mini van cornered that market. Shame on them.

Would be easy enough to make one, that's for sure. Get the GL wagon as a base, use the GLE front clip and engine, along with the wheels, and there you have it.

I remember thinking that same thing at the time the 164E came out. Would have been a no-brainer. Pricing-wise though, it could have been a problem. May have ended up actually quite a bit more than a loaded Country Squire. And in spite of the fuel-injected 6-cylinder and the leather upholstery, these were still pretty basic vehicles.

I guess they came around though, because a couple of years later you could get a 265 wagon.

How about a new Buick Sport Wagon based on the current Regal? Turbocharged, of course. I photochopped this some time ago.

Or, how about a new Magnum based on the current Charger? This photochop isn't that great but you get the idea.
