This was one of the first tow trucks for our area way back, man how things have changed....... I guess this was road rage when gas went to 2 cents a gallon One of the other first tow trucks.........
This one has been around since 1925 local and still wearing most of it's original paint! Many flaws if you look close but come on, where are you ever going to find a survivor like this even though chrome and interior have been touched up over the years? It's driven regular on sunny days and is well known in my area.
And then there is this cool freeeek of nature............. This guy lives a 1/2 mile from me and has owned this 57 for years, a honest car rite down to the original drive train all stock. This was his first year in the show as he got a fresh paint job. The car had a few spot re-sprays over the years and although a nice looker was 3 tones of purple witch never matched the original 70's purple paint job. car also used to ride on different rally wheels with BFG tires. This is a honest car with no rust ever, I have all ways liked it. Well that's it for pics tonight, I'll upload some more tomorrow ...
..................................................... The only AMC that turned up this year. Another honest car that's been around for years, faded but not dented or rusted. First time in the show sporting a fresh paint job
68 Firechicken , 572c.i. holly fuel injection supercharger, 15lbs boost water methanol injection, 700hp @ rear wheels, 5spd standard tremec mini tub4 link rear suspension, riding on G-Year drag radials. 1 of 2, 4 doors from 1950 up that showed up, the other was a 77 Nova. The 63 Canadian Pontiac has been a island car all it's life, seats still covered in plastic, even the carpet on the door panels and 100% original paint.
You getting paid to kill things ? By the way that Model T has an accessory distributor and coil. Originally they had for wooden coil boxes and a tiny timer on the front of the engine. That's the chain drive part. The wrecker and pictures was nice.
The only other Mercury other than the Comet wagon at the show..........we had 2 this year, that's a new record!
