Thanks for the compliments everybody, it makes all this work seem worth while! Not that it isn't fun, when this kind of stuff stops being fun, I'll quit doing it. I hope to have this thing done real soon.

You ain't planning a family vacation, are you? (y)

All you Truckster Designers should do a roadtrip. Even a car thief would chicken out car-jacking one of them.

^^^ Yeah - you could all do a road trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California ( location of the last scene in the movie - "Wally World" ) Call the press for a photo op. Heck - I'll bet Magic Mountain would put your cars on display. ( Either there or Universal Studios - they've got the City Walk shopping area that would be good.)

That would be fun but.......it's 1659 miles from my house! And with gas darn near $4 a gallon, well, you do the math! If I was independently wealthy I'd do it though. Oh well, maybe someday. I do have a trip planned, just a little closer to home.

Hey, If Chevy Chase needs a career-boost to get out of the Santa Claus roles, maybe his agents might sponsor you guys in a deja-vu fan-fare???

Can you imagine a Special FX guy doing that cliff hanger with a mess of these things!!! I gotta wonder if he even knows how much influence that movie has had on passionate fans!

Let's get him in here to visit and see what flies on the wall? What's the number again for Wally World? :rofl2: :thumbs2:

Well guys, I'm down to about a week until my car is done!!!!!!:whew::pub:I'm working on finishing the crowns for the sides. I'll be running sans hubcaps for a while (post East St. Louis!) but will work on them after I take a little break. I finished the inner grille which was a little more time consuming than I thought it was going to be, but I think it looks right. You'll have to wait for done pics, I'm gonna hold off on them until it's done!

Well here you go. Finished pics!!! I will probably put hubcaps on it later, and maybe a few little tweaks down the road, but for the most part it's done.

Wow is an understatement. Check out that engine! Totally modern, totally restored, totally created NEW car. Fantastic job. I wish I had the patience skill and money to pull off a simple restoration let alone create a modernized replica.

    Simply OUTSTANDING!:You_Rock_Emoticon::dancingparty:

Sharp eye, there Tbird! I noticed the engine too, but the mouldings he made got me droolling on the keyboard. Really messy drool, like Jaba the Hutt!

What is that motor from, a 1990's Grand Marquis?

Hey, Norman - just had a brainstorm here.
Let's take your Fairmont Squire and make a JUNIOR Family Truckster. It would be just right for these fuel-concious times. And with nothing to 'copy' from, you would be free to do your own design. Here's some ideas:

-- Raised suspension with knobby tires to simulate a 'CUV' type vehicle
-- Off-road type black roof rack (I'm thinkin' Mad Max meets Griswold here)
    -- Wagon wheel rims
-- BIG off-road flamethrowers (lights, not actual FLAMETHROWERS. but come to think of it, hmmm......)
-- Jeep air intake snorkle tube, for FORDing rivers
-- Ladder on back to reach rack
-- Complete electronic instrumentation, including GPS with 22" screen - blocking all forward vision, of course.
    -- Dual rear wheels (optional)
