Sucks to hear about your trans! And what was that about the body shifting on the frame? Are the mounts coming apart? Hope ya get that fixed soon. I started working on the bumper today, but not real sure how to get it good enough for chrome though. Just have to wait and see how it turns out.

yeah, the mounts are gone. Most of em are by now. Have done 2 boxes (one vic and one towncar) and more than half the mounts are completely gone. My car is no exception. The built suspension and my abuse haven't helped matters. I can't wait to get it done. Should make the car even better.

The trans is a nuisance, but it's still drivable. I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is, I just need some time and a gasket to take care of it.

Let the chromers get it ready... :) that's what they get paid for

Well the weather is turning warmer so the work should progress at a little faster rate. I got the grille mostly done, just needs some finessing and a chrome job but I think it turned out pretty good. Oh yeah, try to overlook all the crap in my garage, I really need to clean it up I guess!

Well the Pick-n-Pull in town finally got another wagon in today, it's a 1990 Merc Colony Park, shows 91k on the odometer and looks to be actual mileage. It's really a shame to pillage such a nice car but it will be crushed in a month or two so I started getting all the good stuff off of it today. The car has PERFECT trim, even the wheelwell trim isn't dinged up! So now I think I have all the trim I need to finish mine. The car is fairly loaded and has nice red leather interior. Outside is black, never seen a black Colony Park or Squire before.

Maybe it was a leased city or hotel customer service car? They have to write them off, regardless of mileage. Tough call to crush it.

Peel off what you can. Good ones are hard to find.

The Merc trim is the same as the squire? I thought there was a difference.

Nope, at least not what were using! The ends are different around the taillights because the rear of the car is different, but the wheel well trim and most other trim is the same with the exception of it not being tan with woodgrain over the whole piece, it just has a small woodgrain strip running down the middle of it that is easily removed with a heat gun. I'm planning on painting all the trim. Are you getting any closer to getting yours done?

I am doing the same with the trim. I am going with a tan-ish color. In the movie you never get a close up to see the wood grain. Not worth trying to cover it with vinyl or pay to have it air brushed. Mine is idle.I started fabing the curved corner to mold. You can create 22 useable corners with some minor adjustments from a stock corner. The other corner will have to be hand made to line up with the reverse trim under the door handle. I will start soon on mine. I did look at it today and put a beer on the hood.

This is great to see guys. My respects to you both. I've had other cars where I had to reproduce brackets and carve moldings from wood, never done it with plastics or aluminum. Good stuff. Nice to see.

Well my body work is almost finished! :yippee: I got the car all in primer, well all but the roof, then took it down to a buddy's shop to finish primering. I should be spraying some color on it in the next couple of days!:29:

might want to check the passenger side bulkhead for rust... its a common spot, and I just found mine is pretty much ready to collapse. Right under the AC drain....

OK, so is that on the inside near the floor or outside on the firewall?
