GM parts direct is NOT GM. And they get you with shipping. They are very high. Don't you have a GM dealer in town??

Yep. We've got a Chev/Olds and a Pontiac/Buick. I always give NAPA first dibs though so I won't call them unless NAPA doesn't pan out. My Dad's 70 and loves that his computer geek son is finally starting to work on cars. Using his employee discount to get me parts really means a lot to him. I've yet to pay more than elsewhere but it does occasionally take a little longer.

Well, I spent a few hours out under the dash today looking at wiring. It looks like the car has never been allowed to air out, the floor pans have a little bit of rust on them and I found a few electrical connections under the dash with small amounts of corrosion. I disconnected everything sprayed it all with Neutrol and put everything back together again. She's in the garage now with all of the windows down to let it dry out a bit.

I've gone over the wiring for the window controls and took some voltage and continuity readings. It looks like there's a short on the Window Lock circuit, but I'll be darned if I can figure out where. Does anyone happen to know if the '94 Roadie Factory Service manual offers more information about where the wire looms for the window circuits run physically? I haven't been able to get my hands on a Factory manual yet.

You might be able to find a used service manual at Amazon.com.

Thanks Roadking, I hadn't thought of that. I've been watching Kijiji and eBay like a hawk. Of course, there's a set on eBay now but he says that he won't ship to Canada and he's not accepting questions for me to convince him.

I'll have a look at Amazon.

I paid a little more for it, but I found a new one on Amazon. Should be here in a few days.

Great that will be a big help. Factory Service Manuals have everything you need to repair your new pride and joy.

Because hubby works at a small independant glass shop he would be ordering the part(if available) from the dealer or Speedy Auto Glass. Good Luck.

Hubby says the wireing harness runs through the door, by the hinge, wraped in plastic. Alot of times they wear there from openning and closing the door.

Thanks for looking into that part Fannie, I really appreciate it. No word from NAPA yet, I guess I'll give the dealership a call. My intent was to buy 5 of them so, worst case scenario, I buy 5 from each place. The car has 8 of them anyway.

I came to the same conclusion about the door panel late last night. Since the drivers door switches and connections were all fine, I was hoping to start at the other end of the wire to begin troubleshooting. Since I couldn't find the other end, and my neck hurt from crawling under the dash, I put the car away and quit for the night. It hit me later, that the common denominator here is the drivers door. The other window switches don't work because the window lock on the drivers door doesn't work, most of the drivers seat controls don't work. The previous owner has already removed the drivers door panel once and it's cracked in several places. I think it's time to remove that panel and start digging around that wire loom in the hinge.

Does anyone know if the front and passenger door panels are the same for a '94 Roadmaster Sedan and Wagon? There's a guy not too far from me who just posted an ad and is parting out a Roadmaster Sedan with a blue interior. He still has the driver and passenger door panels and claims everything is going cheap. Before I drive an hour away to look at them I thought it good to see if anyone else knew if Sedan door panels were the same as for the Wagon.

It can't be much different than a Ford circuit. Mine has 4 relays.

One main one that handles ALL of the accessories from the battery. Then theres a Lock relay and an Unlock relay, and the Window Relay. The Window relay isn't used on 2 door Fords (Mustangs, Capris, Fairmonts, etc.)

BUT! The Window Safety Lock (child safety fad back then) works on the Lock relay for the PDL circuit. The only crossover between the 2 systems (PW and PDL).

I'd check your relays at some autoelectric shop, if you don't have a multimeter.

Interestingly enough, from what I see in the circuit diagrams, there aren't any relays at all. The whole thing is handled with a pretty clever arrangement of DPDT switches. There's a single wire that goes to the COM terminal of all of the rest of the DPDT's from the window lock switch so that it breaks the positive to all of the other motor circuits. I put a signal injector on that switch wire to see if I could trace the wiring but it was shorted to ground. I wound up with tone coming out of the whole car! :rofl2:I'm going to pull the driver's door panel off this weekend and see if I can find a connection point that splits the window lock output off to the three other doors. I'm assuming that the auto-down module must be in the door panel so I'm hoping that the switch wire is split to the other doors from there.

I wish I had the Auto-Up feature. I think Lincolns had it. You pull the key and up they go.

Good luck with that. Sounds like you're on the right track.:thumbs2:
