Thanks! Well a day has went by, still haven't heard a word. I left a note on the car, we will see if it is there next Saturday when I go back. I will put them on there weekly until I get a reply. lol.

I just hope the owner hasn't purchased it for the engine or something. :(

Even if that is the case, I would be interested in the body. I would find a 429 or 460 to put down in it, nice paint job, wood-grain and some deluxe hubcaps. :)

It may be easier restoration than my '72 Caprice wagon. lol.

    lol.

Well the "cruise in" at this town has started back up. I went last week, but forgot to look, but I went yesterday (Saturday) evening and thought I would look and see if this wagon was still there... sure enough, still setting, still going downhill. The note I put under the wiper was long gone. I guess they got it and don't want to sell, or the wind took the note away. You can also see across the street that the '71 LTD sedan is still setting there... also starting to ruin. What a shame.

*If you look just above the hood on the wagon, you can see the LTD sedan in the background...

The LTD still looks nice, but starting to get bubbles under the vinyl top... this car has been setting here for 3 or 4 years now. Aside from a crack on the dash, the interior is like new, as well as the interior on the wagon! (despite outward appearance). Also, the wagon has the "Brougham" interior option, as well as power door locks.

On another note, the Batmobile was there last night. LOL.

3M was the OE maker of the woodgrain paper the car companies used on their wagons; I had bought 2 rolls for my '74 Ranchero before the car was wiped out in an accident, so I'm stuck with the 2 rolls I bought. It would be worth doing a little research to see if it's still offered. Alternately, just buy a couple rolls of 3M vinyl woodgrain shelf covering that appeals to you.

Over one year later and the wagon is still setting there! It has "moved" a couple of times. It was more up toward the road a couple of weekends ago. This past Saturday I was able to drive by there as they didn't have this road blocked off like they normally do on cruise-in nights. Anyway, it has been moved back and now has "429" written on the windshield. I walked over to the car and someone had put a note on the window that said, "call me, interested in car, didnt see phone #". They probably just want it for the engine for a Mustang or an old Ford truck.

Well I left a note too and it vanished and I never heard from the owner.

New pic snapped Saturday. I also snapped one of my wagon walking back. :) Would have been neat to get side-by-side pics of the two.

What a shame. I don't understand people like that. Why hold onto it, if you're gonna just let it sit and ruin?!?!?!?

I like your clamshell better than that Ford. ;)

When I was a kid living in Tulsa Oklahoma in the late 70's-early 80's, our neighbor down the street had a dark green LTD wagon like that one. I remember the wood on the sides would fade to white every few weeks, and he'd wipe WD-40 all over it to make it dark again. Ha!

I rode in that car a few times, and as a kid I didn't like it because the seat bottom in the middle row was a lot lower than the seat in my Mom's '78 Grand Safari, and the doors in the Ford curved up, so the door panels seemed like walls to me in that LTD. I could barely see over them and out the widow.

    Funny what you remember!

72Kingswood here's the deal. The wagon is most likely for sale. Someone else apparently wants it too and removes your notes. Or vandels or ornery kids.
You need to find out who owns all of those vehicles there and contact the owner personally. Or at least get a note inside the wagon where it is safe and dry so next time it's moved they will find it.

Why is my old grey and white Chevy van sitting there?

Went by again today... still setting there not one year, but 2 years later... I put another note on the mirror and threw one in the cargo area. As mentioned above, I was finally able to get a note inside and left my cell phone #. The rear window is down now and it was when I looked at it three weeks ago. :( I guess someone rolled it down and it would not go back up. I don't know why they do not cover it up. It looks like new back there... it is a shame seeing it like this. I peeked in the crack of the hood and it looks like a freshly rebuilt engine under there. My note said, if you want to sell, let me know. I want to restore it. Not sure if that was the right thing to say, but maybe if they know someone wants to save it? Who knows. The blue '71 LTD sedan is also still setting across the street... also ruining.

Again, this one has a very nice interior and has the "Brougham" interior option. Loaded with A/C, power locks, cargo area seats, etc.

I snapped these today. April 25, 2015. You can see it is getting in worse and worse shape. (Notice they covered the piece of crap Cavalier beside of it):slap:.

I really need to focus on my '72 Chevy wagon, but I do want this CS. :)

I'd just give up on this one. Don't let it torment you any more. Chances are, if you were able to actually have a talk with the owner, they would probably think that it's worth far, far more than it really is, and give you a sky-high price. Even if it ran, since it's been sitting so long, I would put a maximum price on it of $1,000 - more than likely less, once i got a good look at it.

There's still enough of these out there that you should be able to find a better one, that somebody is actually interested in selling.....

    Just my $ .02........

This is sad. That's a nice 1971 Country Squire wagon. Notice the side in the shade still has nice woodgrain on it. In the past two years it's at least been moved once or twice. Could that mean it still runs?
Let's hope the owner reads the note and calls or joins station wagon forums and restores the wagon himself. Until then everyone stay out of dark alleys with your Mom, even in small town USA!

As someone who gets notes left on their cars all the time, I usually just glance at them and toss them. I never call the number back after all the time wasters and insulters I've been subjected to over the years, chances are this guy is the same way. If he was interested in selling it, it'd have a number on it or be advertised. The only way someone buys something of mine that isn't advertised is to catch me in person and convince me they aren't a jerk.

I agree with Krash that you should look elsewhere. If it was really for sale someone would have made more effort.

Thanks. Well I am not on the search/shopping for a wagon, just like this one and thought I could try to save it from ruining, as it is obviously doing. The '71 LTD sedan across the street from this one was a beautiful car 5 years ago... now it is a rusty hunk of junk. It is a shame if you ask me, but they aren't my cars. ;) The lot where the car is setting used to be a car lot (actually an old Ford dealer) and there are about 3 different numbers on the building. I guess I could call, but thought a note would be better. At least my # is there. There will be no more from me. If they want to sell it, they will sell it. If he wants it to sink down into the ground there and turn into a rusty shell in about 15 years, then crush the remains, he will do that as well. ;)

Yeah, it moves around from time to time, but only back and forth. From the looks of the engine (what I could see through the crack), it looks like a new or recently rebuilt engine. It is very clean looking like a new engine. Maybe he bought it just for the engine? Would be nice to see it restored, but at the rate it is going, not too good, but I cannot say much, I haven't done anything with mine either (as far as bodywork that is).
