I take my '79 to my favourite Ford dealership once a year in the fall. The guys do a tuneup, grease and oil, check and fix oil and water leaks, change the anti-freeze, top up the PS. $275. I could do it all myself, and save about $150. But when I need an old number lookup or a tip on another fox car that might come in for a trade. They call me. I bought my brand new 1981 Fairmont Futura from the guy that now owns the dealership on a snowy, f-ing cold Prairie November evening at 8:30 PM. The guy treats me like a prince. I think their the second-largest dealership for 300 miles east or west. The service manager is on a first name basis, 'cause he loves my wagon, and the parts guy loves it when I throw a challenge at him.

Never been hosed by that dealership.

And they always send me discount coupons of hockey and soccer game tickets.

Besides, its too cold to do all that in our late October or early November.

Have only dealt with used car dealerships,so the experience has been different. The first one I went to,(bought a 91 Taurus)was out of business six months later. Not much service there...The second one,(bought a 95 Taurus)only sells cars---and warranties(like the kind they sell on TV)but theirs are only good untill you've used up too much money. It's not 3 years and/or 30,000 miles---it's untill your car has needed repairs that equal or exceed what you paid to get the warranty.I paid $1600 dollars for the deluxe warranty that included everything, and two months later, the car needed a $1700 transmission fix.No more warranty.o_O And we couldn't take it to our favorite tranny shop, because it wasn't approved by the warranty company.:banghead3: We usually get good deals from our favorite tranny shop. They really like our Colony Park. They do more than trannies. And when THEY fix something,it stays fixed a while. And it's usually something else that breaks,on down the line...Not that AAMCO can't fix the tranny in the Reliant right, even after the third time in two months stuff.:49: Yeah, they're good at what they do...Whatever that is...;)
