... if we get a ride, we'll TELL RJ... No ticky, no laundly! :yahoo:

You know I don't blame Clark if he blocks us out of his threads. We really trashed this one, after telling him we were glad he was back. We're gonna have to make it up to him somehow. :):)

WagonFest is a Roadmaster & Caprice B Body wagon gathering in Waterloo, NY every year in July. Fred AKA mostly_unusual_cars, the guru of these type of wagons buys and sells hundreds of them on eBay puts on the show. He has his own demolition derby, airbag blow up, tech sessions, free parts for everyone.

About 30 or 40 wagons show up every year from the forum http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=21 and just have a good time. The show is at a lakefront park in Waterloo and just an incredible setting for a wagon show. Here's a sample PIC of WagonFest 08.

Clark those pictures was great and looked like a lot of fun. Too bad my wagon doesn't qualify to be there.

If I wanted to go, and my car fit in to the guildelines set, then I'd go. No matter what anyone else thought.

I am not in to cars cause other people like them. I am in to cars cause I like them. I do not pour money in to any one of my cars to please someone else. It belongs to me and I only have me to please.

If someone doesn't like what I've done, there's another car setting right down the street just like my car that they will like better.

    :D

That is the main reason I don't go to car shows. The last one I went to locally was 6-7 years ago,me and the wife took our sons to it.There was a trailer queen at this show which should have not been there cause these were mostly really nice drivers and a few 1/4 mile muscle cars thrown in.

The guy had a 55 Chevy Bel Aire with at least a 10,000 paint job on it he was a older gentleman he had the orange cones up with a chain linking up to each come 5 feet around his car and he sat there yelling at everyone getting to close to the cones.

My Boys never wanted to go to a car show again because of that one experience

Sorry to hear you feel about car shows like this. I really feel they are a positive influence and yes you run in to some jerks. But that can happen anywhere no matter what you do.

Sounds like this man has more money then he has time. If going to a car event comes to this point for me, I will stop going.

No one knows how it is to have someone damage their car at a car show like I do. People think it's fine to scratch, dent, and man handle my cars at their discretion. I can not believe someone pushing a baby stroller does not know when they've damaged someone's personal property. Do they care? NOPE! They just walk off and go home. It's not their's.

I screwed up the paint on the pass front fender of my windowed Sedan Delivery because of other people. They leaned over the fender and wore the paint thin. They scrathed the paint. Deep scrathes, too. So I tried to repair it and only succeeded in screwing it up.

I understand your point of veiw this was the 2nd car show we attended. The first one was even larger and I taught my sons to look but not lean on or touch the cars and my wife pushed me in a wheelchair also being extra careful that car show was the best cause a lot of the people participating would take time out and talk to us about their cars and trucks.

I've been going to car shows & cruise-ins since about 1978. I've met some real characters during this time. Most people you meet are very nice and respect your property. But then you also meet some clowns who could care less. You own it, they don't. So they figure if they feel like damaging your car, too bad for you!!!

We were at a show about 5 - 6 years ago some jerk walks up and promptly sticks his foot on the front bumper of my windowed Delivery to tie his shoe. I was standing at the back of my Delivery and saw him raising his foot up. I made it to the front in like 3 seconds or less. I can tell you he removed his foot faster then he placed it up there. Then his wife says to him, "What are you doing?" Why didn't she stop him BEFORE he put his big tug boat up there to begin with?

For a while I was having a problem with little kids trying to pick the edges of the flames off my Handyman 150 2-door Wagon. It's not clear coated so the flames are just laying on top of the paint. Please keep in mind the car was painted in 1981. Clear coating wasn't that popular 27 years ago.

I watched a guy push his young son to the ground once cause the kid had learned he could pick the edges of the flames off my Wagon. He had went to get dad to show him what he could do. They were walking back to my Wagon, dad saw me setting at the back and pushed the kid to the ground to keep him away from my Wagon. Dad should have taught him to respect other people's property at home. Not a do or die lesson out in public.

    Sorry for ranting.

    Let 'er rip, RJ!

Pet peeves are often worth hearing about. Andy and I went to a local bodyshop supplier BBQ. Gorgeous cars attended, many were members of our local clubs! They left them open so people could drool, and chatted up their cars, and nobody acted dumb, maybe 60 cars came through. Eatin' a burger, yakkin' in the food lineup with one guy who came with his own Movie car - a 1939 Buick sedan done up like a period yellow taxi. 20 cents the first 1/4 mile and 5 cents for every mile thereafter.

No kids, lots of guys snoopervising the cars, but without being pests. Better than a carshow, IMHO. Tomorrow they've got a daytime cruise closing off some 10 sidestreets and two major city streets with some 800 cars expected! I have to pour cement slabs or I'll lose it to the rain on Monday. Andy will probably go.

We get the odd show here, but people here know how to make their own fun. We have a huge Multi-cultural (over 40 nationalities) event here, on right now, that runs for 2 weeks. Love that time. Food, live international music and dance, arts and crafts, learning about who else is on the planet. Beer and wine from everywhere. I hear that the Feds relax the alcohol content rules for this event. Some of the Scotch and Tequila and Asian drinks really take your breath away. Probably good paint remover, if you don't suck it back first! :biglaugh:

Didn't mean to Jack your Jack, but I dun did! :D

I personally am involved with putting on 4 shows a year for the last 20 years +
I've heard more horror stories than you can imagine!!:rofl2:

theres always a contingent of people that attend shows ...
that have NO F'N CLUE!!! .....that its NOT ..OK to touch the car!!!
Its a "RESPECT or LACK THERE OF" ISSUE that the whole world suffers from.

...and as for what is right or wrong with a car show....
Ya Cant Please Everyone!!...i learnt that a long time ago..:D

but heres the dilema...people only tell you the 'complaints'!
for every 1 that says "GOOD SHOW".....theres 10 whiners !!!

ya takes the good with the bad....thats all i'll say

    ps;...i just realized...that i took part in a HYJACK..
    ...DOOOH.!!..sorry
...and i just reread my post...apparently i woke up on the 'lack of train of thought side of the bed"... :)
