Back in junior high school, had a buddy (1 yr older) who was an electronics genius. Built his own Heathkit CB, and a bunch of other stuff. His room looked like Dr. Emmett Brown's place from 'Back To The Future'. He did Ham radio as well. Put a CB in his dad's VW bug. Looked a bit funny with the big whip antenna.
ive got an older cb in my 67 Ranch wagon. she works. i just never took it out due to the originality.
I probably still have some QSL cards from having contacted people via "skip" about 30 years ago. Thanks for jogging my memory
10-4 good buddy that's a roger on that. Keep the pedal to the medal and watch out for Smokies down the line. 10-8 and 10-10 till we 10-100 on down at the truck stop. Mercy sakes alive we got ourselves a convoy. Watch out for those long roofs and bull haulers on the bypass. What's a CB radio?
I do believe you are right. Altho I never talked to many people in Utah! Well except the one time I drove a tractor trailer there.
You didn't miss much they all talk funny here...we call it Utanese. They don't pronounce their "T's" the city of Layton is pronounced "Lay-un" with a heavy "u" as well as mountain is "moun-un" yeah it's annoying. Also the word sale is pronounced "cell"...like "I found this on cell in Lay-un at the mall by the moun-un." Makes my eye twitch.
Only time I was in Utaaaaaaah we went to a very large truck warehouse complex. Therefore I only met real human beings who spoke real English. And the other truckers on CB's spoke the usual broken truck slang. I'm still trying to understand southern redneck and Cracker combined with the NE lingo of NY and all points that a way mixed with southern drawl. :banghead3:
Speaking of rednecks, we also have a group of folks from an area called Hooper (they pronunce it "Huper") who talk like Larry the cable guy with a southern drawl yet were born and raised here...?
We used to go fox hunting. It's a game with a long history where you essentially play hide and go seek with 4x4 vehicles. The one who finds the fox gets to hide next. You use the needle and RF Gain and squelch to find the fox who must give particular clues and also give an "Audio," which involves saying the word audio in an elongated fashion to allow the hunters to monitor and adjust their needles. Some of the most fun we've ever had was during this game Brandon
