Pics! Here's a couple of my winter getaway: Seats: Visors - Redyed to match interior moldings: Grille/Front End: Check out the back gate. The two curved topped sections behind the car. They swing up like Gull Wing doors (my invention). Saves me shovelling just to open the gate.
Gracias! Did you see what I left you about radios, yesterday? http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6809#post6809
I was looking at your sun visors. I absolutely hate mine. They are almost useless! So, I had junked my 85 Cougar. The 83-88's have a center support that seems to me would fit my car nicely. I hate to buy the stinkin' things back so I may wait for my daughters 86 Tbird to become available so that I can steal the visors from her car. Mine don't have the lighted vanity mirror like yours but my visors are floppy. They stay up fine but stop and they move forward, accelerate and the move back. Plus the fabric is worn out. I disliked them so much that when I recovered my headliner I just couldn't waste the fabric on the awful visors. They kind of look like sad eyebrows from the front. Where did you get those brand new looking front seats? Can I ship mine to you for a restoration? I hear you work cheap....oops...frugaly.
They came out of the 1982 Zephyr 4-door. BUT, the smaller Lincolns, Mercuries and Granadas had the same ones, right up to 1988. The other part is the spring that provides the tension that keeps them from swinging around and beating you up when you accelerate. You can try spreading them or you can snip off the washer-type retainer, spread the spring and use a cotter pin over a new washer. Mine were all faded, so I used the SEM dye to match all the rest of the trim.
Got the new steering column/shifter shaft rubber boot on, my old one was broken up and rotted. Then the power brake booster, the wiper capacitors and wiper motor (front). Then the washer hoses to the wiper arms. Mine has them right in the arms. I also got the rear wiper washer bottle and its rubber tubing in. It was up to -3C but the winds were coming in at 25 to 35 mph, making it feel like -14C (7F). But I got a lot of prep work done to get the rest done this and next week.
I'll tell ya, there's no slackin'. You keep moving, doing, more coffee, pee-break, and all over again. Fast and organized! My lefthand froze a bit, but I took a break to check the manuals for the tricky bits.
