I looked into flying back there - could fly right into the La Crosse, Wis. airport, which is within practically walking distance of where the wagon's at. I would have probably popped in a cab, picked up the wagon, then headed over to Madison to see 'Fox.

For now, I'm just being patient. If this was still summer, I'd be on a plane.

Sure know the feeling! Once had to transport a 46 Chevy truck that used to belong to family in Grafton, North Dakota to the port of NY for shipping to Norway. Ended up taking over 2 months and cost over 2 grand, back in 98!! By comparison NY-Norway took 3 weeks and was less than a grand!

I've used the train to transport cars in the past when roads were too ugly to drive. Cost was not unreasonable and they are much less weather dependent than trucks. Just had t ensure I had it was in an enclosed car and not one of the open ones. Never any problems.

    Excellent!
Do you think you'll be able to sleep between now and the 15th?

As long as cleaning out the garage keeps me busy. It kinda got a bit 'cluttered' since we sold the Exploder in August.

So, what happens after you clean out the garage, the new toy arrives, and then you find that its too long to fit in the garage?

One way or another, I'll get it to fit. Got to build some storage shelves.

See the black marker pen line in the above pic? That's where the bumper will end up. A '81 Pontiac Bonneville Safari is 216.7" long - that's a hair over 18'. It's gonna be tight.

My Fairlane is almost 14" shorter. So if the back bumper is on that line, where's the front bumper? How wide is your new wagon?

That's allowing about an inch between the front bumper and the back side of the garage door. I'll be backing it in I think. Don't think I've got a problem with width. I can move the HHR over some more if I need to. To allow more get-in / get-out room, I usually have the wife's car on the right, pulled in forward, and I back in.

Mezzanine the stuff along the wall. Would not take much, put it over the garage door tracks - often dead space anyway.

You could also put a mirror on the wall above the back end so you can see what is happening as you back in. When I put my trailer in my the lean to I put a 4X4 across so I can't back past that. That has worked real well, and I would think a 2X4 would be fine for the wagon.

This is very exciting. Just in time for a Christmas cruise..............
