Tell me 'bout it I thought I knew Mopars pretty good 'til my Bride and I did a month in OZ in '87. Mother Mopar did the R&D work in Detroit on a little inline 6 265 HP HEMI Screamer w/ 3 side draft Webers that they stuffed into what looked like a Phord Mavrick that waz marketed as a Dodge H series Charger in OZ in the early '70s. I had to travel half way 'round the world to learn about that Lil' Beast when they worked on it how many yearz rite here in my back yard? FYI, The only engine part in the whole engine that would-will interchange with anything we knew were the cam bearings in a 318:banghead3:AND HOW 'BOUT 7 MAIN BEARINGS IN THAT STREIGHT UP LITTLE PUPPY It doesn't even resemble a /6 Those lil' Chargers are still highly saught after and valued down under Only thing I could ever figure iz that the EPA killed it for release here in the states, but the rules at that time were more relaxed in OZ, THOSE LUCKY DOGZ
Maybe something could be worked out with Mike, the man behind www.classicinlines.com He is looking for rebuildable engines. I wonder how much it would cost to get one to the middle of Canada...
Well that would depend entirely on the weight and how soon you would want it. I know at the moment I sold my BBS wheels on ebay to a guy in the states for $400 but he is whinging about the shipping costs which are $450-$1150 depending on how soon he would like them. the cheap one is 2-3 months and the other one is 7-9 days. Now with an engine it would most likely have to go over to the states by sea and then it would most likely be easier to get a container and fill it with engines. One of these used SOHC 4.0L with a tidy up and turbo kit could set you back less the 4 grand plus shipping but then you would need to find someone who could make it run but in the end you could easily have 360hp daily driver
Well maybe... The Aussie factories make them for Latin America, including Brazil, which is Left Hand Drive, same as the US. Finding an honest owner might be a problem.
You could probably get away with it, because you could get in from the curbside. Some states and provinces won't allow RH drive, except with collector plates (AKA Trailer Queens). Good thinking, Cliff.
I can see it now.... Me driving on the right my wife sitting on the left and waving her arms out the window in front of the police, get pulled over and have her act surprised the steering wheel isn't there.

They were an option on most vehicles in Australia - even right up into the 90's - although they were painted matt black from the early 80's onwards. Hence, two options remain for those looking for a set to suit Australian wagons - 1/ Search the swap meets, ebay etc until you find a set of GC originals...or - 2/ Go straight to ebay or a local restoration spares supplier to buy them new - as most are being reproduced new aftermarket. However, for those looking for that concourse finish, the repros do have minor changes verses the originals - eg, the way the individual blades are cut at the ends, and some of the originals came with rubber dipped ends. I have an original set for my HT - plenty of people have tried to buy them off of me, not for sale... The problem for you guys is the fact that your wagons have different window dimentions to ours courtesy of the longer rear overhang, so I would expect ours wouldn't fit without significant and careful modification. My suggestion is to contact one of the suppliers via ebay, and see if they do a set to suit yours - or can put you in contact with somebody who will, or even better - the manufacturer. I don't know what companies deal with restoration supplies in America - perhaps you could try them and see if you already have something available over there?
