Well... I hate to do it to the snowbelters... but I found HEAVEN in Arizona at a place called Desert Valley Auto Parts. For those of you in Phoenix, its on 7th Ave and Happy Valley and WELL worth a visit for parts and parts cars. The yard is nicely organized by make and model for the most part. They had a TON of old Mopar C-body cars (for me) and a few wagons that I got some GREAT parts from. Lots of Buicks and Fords, Chevies...etc. I was looking for a new dash pad and some other interior trim like the back spare tire cover etc...type stuff. Lots of my trim has turned brittle and just crumbles to dust upon removal. Well.. I found not just 1...but 3 PERFECT dash pads...and all the trim I needed. Even the yard was shocked as being 110 degrees everyday in the desert..drys out everything really quick. I will post up pics of the dash pad this weekend when I get it home (they are pulling it for me). Anyway.. here is some junk yard porn for you guys... check out the sheet metal and completeness of some of these cars! Next time I will snap more pictures of wagons... These guys have over 400 acres of cars from the 50's-70's and lots of clean project cars that run and drive as well. Pricing seems reasonable to me too... I AM GOING TO BE FREQUENTING THIS PLACE FOR SURE!
Went to the yard again today. I am going to be posting many more - ALL WAGONS... tonight... stay tuned. There will be some love for everyone... I shot Fords, Olds, Buicks, Chevies, Pontiacs and Mopars. I FOUND SOMETHING AMAZING in this yard that all of you are going to like... check back tomorrow! (HINT?... its a Pontiac)
MORE Junk Yard Wagons... Ok guys/gals... as promised... Junk Yard Wagons... Arizona Style! The Dodge Suburban Wagon below is where I got a lot of my much needed interior trim that was too far gone to save. Another interesting find... One of my FAVORITE Buicks... ANOTHER Awesome Buick... below AND NOW.. FOR THE FIND OF THE DAY... I would trade my wagon for this anyday... I think they only want $2500 for it too!! No motor though... Check out how LONG this baby is!!!! I'd be like driving a BUS! Hope you enjoyed... I know I did Im totally thinking I should go into business for myself now... scalping parts from this yard and selling 'em to you guys!
Geez, I've never seen anything like that before. I can't even get my wagon into the garage much less this one. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, that has to be the most organized-looking yard..! I wonder what the story is on the green Buick wagon (captioned your favorite)...it looks like it belongs on a used car dealer lot, not in a junk yard! Did you spot any clamshell Chevys? May I hire you as a broker of parts?
It is a pretty organized yard. The Buick you mention is in the area of the yard where they have unmolested project cars that are not for parts, but sold whole and often running/drivers. Its almost like a used car lot. Plus they seem to have guys whose job is to just pull a nice rebuildable car from the yard...rebuild it with parts from the yard and then they move it to this lot to be sold whole. What a job.. The one thing missing were the clamshell chevies... interesting. I think I saw 1 brown one that was hiding in the back with a bunch of Rivieras for some reason...but that's it.
LargeBarge, I can grasp the concept of a 9 passenger wagon, but a 9-door wagon means a Double-Long garage! You could build a Noah's Ark with that thing! How many driveshaft extensions does it have? Thanks for the pics, that's an awesome yard! You'd have to change your handle to LaBarge. That's a Cargo Barge in english!
That junk yard seems more of flea market than a bone yard! The ones Ive been to all are muddy and little care was taken when bringing the cars into the yard.
what is it? It's looking a lot like a Pontiac to me,not sure what vintage. The front end has the right number of letters, and the fifth one does look like an I.
