Looks great. I am thinking about a 2 or 4 door falcon/comet wagon. A two door would be cooler, but with kids be easier to load them in the four door.

    Anyhow, good work, very inspiring.

    Impressive! :tiphat:

I've restored mine, back in 2007 and 2008, but I had a fairly serious 'CRUNCH' encounter in 2010/ Mine would ne equivalent to a next generation Falcon, I guess, being a 1979 Fairmont Squire. I'm dropping the woodgrain this time, and going with a two-tone paintjob. Sand and Chestnut. All the Squire trim will be polished this time. No more woodgraining. It doesn't like our roadsalt.

    Very, very nice work. Kudos.

Thanks for all the nice words they certainly help to boost the ego and to let me know that the car will be appreciated by others as well. I have worked on cars all my life but never to the extent of this one which I feel I actually brought back from the dead if it hadnt of been for body work that po's did I would not have attempted it because body work is not my thing.

Carpet and seats are now in pics to come later, with a little more work it should be on the road by this Friday and that is my birthday so that will be the greatest present I have ever gave myself.

    1962 Falcon 2-Door Wagon

I have a 1962 2-Door Wagon. I had the same problem you had with the gas tank after I installed a new tank and sending unit. My sending unit must have come from the same manufacturer that yours did.
Have you replaced the quarter window seals? I have mine out and ready to put the glass back in with the new seals but am not sure about using sealer. I have mixed responses from the Falcon forum that I am using.

Hi Ron, yes I had the glass company install new quarter window seals, they used butyl sealant when they did it. First on the inside then let it sit for a day in the heat and came back the next day and did the outside. I know if I would have tried it it would have been a big mess of black all over the headliner.

Good luck to you on your project I have been following your post on TFFN

Thanks for your reply. When you say that the sealer was installed on the inside, what did you mean? Inside of what? To the car itself, or around the glass edge inside the seal?
The TFFN site is good, and you usually get good responses.

I mean it was installed inside of the rubber were the rubber meets the body of the car, also were the rubber meets the glass and then again on the outside after it was installed

Do you install the trim pieces into the rubber seals before installing the side windows back into the car? I read a post about windshields that indicated that you put the trim back on before putting the windshield into the car.

Yes the trim has to go in the rubber first. If you purchased new quarter window rubber you may have to do a little cutting of the rubber in the area that the trim goes in as the slots for mine were not quite long enough for the trim to fit correctly. It was easy to do. I think I also cut the corners where they go in the rubber so they were not a square edge for ease of installation.

It is really a 2 person job to install the windows, one on the outside putting pressure on it and another inside pulling the rope.

On another 61 Falcon that I had I did install the windshield without putting the trim in the rubber so it is doable but you stand the chance of bending or denting the trim. A little soap and water mixture definitely helps

Thanks. Good idea about trimming off the square edges of the trim. I did it, and it helped a lot.

Wow it has been another long span since I have posted, I am heavy into Mavericks so a lot of my time is spent on the Maverick forum which is hosted by Stefan as well, and working on the Mavericks. I do stop by and admire the other long roofs from time to time just didnt take time to post anything and didnt realize I never posted a completed picture, well almost completed picture as are they ever really done. So here are the most recent pics I have but they do not show the wheels that are on it now or the headrests with embroidered Falcon stitching in them or center console with cup holders

Still need to get the windows tinted and install a better set of rear gears besides the 2.89s and a few more little things. So to update it here are a few more pics.

A few more. I have taken it on some pretty long cruises and always get a thumbs up and cant stop at a gas station without somebody coming over and asking about it, it is a bug magnet though always got bees trying to get some nectar from it.LOL
