Thanks. I knew I'd seen it last fall. Those clamshell tailgates are pretty slick. Wouldn't last in our salt infested streets, but they sure work nice.

Only 76 caprice got the square headlights, low riders luv em. I prefer the round headlights, more old school.

Manuals? We got manuals! Well online anyway. This place has all kinds:
    http://www.tocmp.com/

Also check out Autozone's online manuals. It's a bit of a pain, but they do go back. Free registration. Great for a quick ref to a common issue. Not so great for a major resto.

    Hey tsynek,

I posted a new thread "clamshell tailgate assembly", with lots of pics showing all aspects of it's assembly and operation.

Hope it helps you with understanding this confusing system.

Feel free to ask me questions about your tailgate problems. Take some pics if you can, too! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

    David :)

Here is the crappy job done on my back windows by a "professional" shop. They, pulled them out by the way. The black adhesive looks like a 5 yo put it on. Also the interior around the back windows was not put back right. Oh well, now I know to go to another body shop for the rest of the resto. Clamshell tailgate rebuild and rear end rust/rot next! Thank you Wixom for your advise. Anyone got that piece of chrome im missing? That's my son by the way, I'm starting him early!
