I believe your taking my post wrong in s sense.

1)I said $3,500 was crazy for a demo car. And it is, I never said YOUR crazy for trying to get that. Yes, I sold a 100% rust free 73 Pontiac roller wagon for $3,500 WITH mint dash pad, dash cluster, door panels and rear storage area interior.

2)To each their own on paint and design. BUT, as said by many on this site that hurt the sale of your car, your car also had a monster stack of leaf springs in the back for your purpose, again your car and you needed them. Your Buick had Pontiac interior if I remember correctly. Nice interior but raises the question of how was the wiring installed, not saying you did a hack job but people wonder.

3). I have $6,200 in my new Butler Performance stroked 472 (455 Pontiac) WITH paperwork. Your motor is rebuilt but does it have documentation, receipts, built by a reputable shop? Once again not saying you didn't do a good job on the rebuild, but people want proof of what's done and by who

    4) He is not my friend. I know him through this forum only

Now, would I pay $5,000 for this wagon? If it's a car I wanted to buy and drive.......... I would pay $4,200-4,500. The paint looks decent, interior is presentable, it runs and drives and most options work. Would I buy it to resell? Yes, and I do that a lot. But the price would be $3,000 knowing the market would easily let me sell it for $3,800 if I really needed to move it

I respect your input Wagonkiller, nor Am I picking a fight with you. Area dictates value of cars just as much as shape. Here in the Midwest this Buick will bring very close to the asking price even with the obvious rust that's been repaired.

Things probably look worse than they are right now in this point of the discussion, don't forget the tale of two people talking about "one" movie only to find they were speaking of two movies...

My 74 olds had a 71 poncho interior. The Buick was stock from the factory and better than this.(interior)
I got news for ya the wiring in that car was EXACTLY and I mean EXACTLY as it was in the 71 poncho with NO CUTS or MODIFICATIONS! Save for the HEI hook up! and every single factory gauge worked in the dash as intended! Fuse box and all was transferred as car was GUTTED!I don't do half azzed crap work! The dash was one of the hardest parts as it was installed as FACTORY! As for the Paint on my car REALLY? who gives a flyin monkey's azz? that cost me a whole $75 WOW man that's killer huh?(helluva lotta work tho) Guess what I was in the middle of a 3 year stretch trying to eat and survive while waiting for a diagnoses for some ungodly BULLSHAT disease nobody ever heard of with dr bills out my azz but I STILL got it DONE! I just had to be crafty to do so.

And I'll stand behind my claim Builder and Tuner of MORE WINNING derby engines of different manufacturers, than ANY MUTHA FU@@A on the planet!
I don't keep receipts for things I build and use myself not into the "braggart" thing. My work speaks for itself and always has. I ALSO do work and barter with others to get some said "WORK" done that I cannot do myself. and well I think ya know there is no receipt exchange involved. I WORK one way or another for what I have. Or in fact wheel and deal.

There was not a "monster stack of leaf springs" under my car, there were the factory number and factory sized just out of a 72 hearse. Way stronger and better than any 3/4 or 1 tons I ever used out of a truck. And they were in fact factory thickness too 5/16ths

I do NOT take lightly ANYONE even remotely questioning or ridiculing my work in any way. I don't half azz things I do it RIGHT!

You win, I didn't question anything. I was merely pointing out what people........yes people and not just me look at certain things. Good luck in finding whatever you want

I'm not doubting your work, Wagonkiller; I know what you mean by the "Hey, it's paint and it does its job" thing. But recall not everyone's as knowledgeable as you are with cars, I still see people driving around with bare metal rusting away on their newer cars; I'm not even talking about cars that are more than 10 years old, they just let them rust and that's a kind of person who could help raise or lower the price a car goes for and that's why the paint comment may have come up. I get the feeling Swanny's just saying observations about people who can raise price of a car in an auction, etc, is not meant to be an insult; it's just as it is with some people who would like things showroom quality or whatever it is they're after. NO insults intended or meant.

LOL didn't pay that much attention to the spare tire area till this morning. Pretty bad when your repaired spare tire bottom patch is rusted out yet again. I would think resealing the rear windows would be priority one when repaired the first time.

If it's dropped another $500 people might start contacting for an actual purchase, though possibly more for a derby car if my understanding of the market's as it is.

$4000 is not quite derby level price, and this Buick does not deserve that fate.

I meant $3,500 and that if it were there it would be nearly in derby price range. More wagon fans would be into it then too, I imagine. But that's my impression and I'm not sure it's correct.

$4,000 is derby price range for some guys. This has the more desirable "blue" block 455 which has the improved oiling system and harder block, it will sell for $400-$500, transmission will bring $150, wheels and tires $250, sell some interior parts $200-400 and now you have a $2,500-$3,000 derby shell. And a lot of guys will pay that for derby wagons IF they are clean in the right places
