When it was first listed, it was $10,500, and I said it was worth half that. Now he's asking half that. Let's see if I know what I'm talking about and it sells.

I do thinks, as everyone else does, that a lack of A/C will hurt interest significantly. As much as A/C was still considered much more of a luxury back then than it is now, having it was still pretty much a given on these higher-end luxury-barge wagons of the day. I could see no A/C on a low-end Chevy Biscayne wagon, but not on a Catalina Safari. Anyone wanting to drive it at all, which is probably most anyone who buys it, will find this a major negative.

It's $6,500 with the wheels pictured, or $5,500 with stock ones. Nice Wagon, I agree lack of ac will make this one tougher to sell...

I really like this. No woodgrain and the color rocks! Not sure on those "Original" miles as no pics of the drivers door panel, and the lower right corner of the break pedal appears to have a good bit of wear. And the steering wheel looks worn too but pics do not let you see it well enough to make a good guess. Even with the mileage at 151,000 it would be worth it if a rock hard car. $5000 seems pretty good to me I wouldn't want the ugly wheels

OK, guys, what's wrong with this car? It's been on the market for at least a month and a half now. It started out at an unrealistic $10,000+, but now it's down to a more realistic $5K, yet it sits. It looks good in the photos, but it is somewhat low on options (no third seat, for example). One big strike against it is it does not have air-conditioning. Is this what's hurting it?

Could it simply be the time of year? Seems to me the supply and demand for classic cars tips slightly towards the buyers' market end of the scale as fall/winter approach. You're right, it looks like a great car for the asking price. If I were a Pontiac guy, lack of third seat would not be a big deal to me, but lack of AC would be.

A friend of mine looked at it. It does have rust. Little things wrong like it needs exhaust work and fuel gauge doesn't work. He said it wasn't worth it.

I think not having AC is a big strike. It's one thing for a previous owner to have gutted the AC out of the car, it's an entire other thing for it to have never had it at all. Of all the options that cars came with or didn't, AC is one of the more difficult ones to add if you want it so that will turn off a large potential buyer pool. Little things like gauges and lights not working, exhaust leaks, etc will be overlooked by a portion who are buying desirable performance cars or who plan on doing their own work, but it shows laziness on the part of the seller to not fix the little details and buyers who have to pay a mechanic to fix it will be turned off as well - who wants a car to drive anywhere approaching regularly that the fuel gauge doesn't work on???

If the price was a little lower for the issues that have been brought up, it would probably sell easier. But then it gets closer to derby territory too. And as mentioned, sometimes having no AC will turn off buyers at any price.

Mine always had AC but I really didn't use it. and 3rd seat is no big deal if I am looking at one and it doesn't have it.
