I would be surprised if it was. I don't remember someone from here buying one like this. Buy then again, I'm over 60 and have the CRS disease.....

Off the top of my head I'm not sure what the screen name of the user is, but his thread said he found it by using Dailylister and it was a barn find; It was retired some time in 1977-1985 and then it was just left in a barn for over 20 years. The thread has at least three pages to it and photos included, some show snow.

Hey there. I got a PM from Marshall today saying there's a little bit of buzz regarding my Olds CC I put on Craigslist yesterday. I was surprised to see the discussion that was going on about my car.

So yea, she's mine. I bought the car last Fall from the family of the original owners. As the story goes, the original owners bought the car new in Ohio than moved to eastern Oregon sometime around 1977. A year later they apparently die and the family parked the wagon in their barn, not to see light again until last year. The family got her running and posted a Craigslist ad. I made the purchase thereafter. It was quite a risk on my part since the photos were lousy, the description was poor, she really didn't run very well and wasn't even road worthy. After getting the car shipped to Delaware I began to think the story of this car being stored for over 35 years might just be true. She had vintage early '70's LR-78 tires, hoses and belts that appears original and paint that looked original but had some mystery gunk misted and caked on all over the passenger side. I also had the car inspected by my mechanic and he confirmed her original state.

So over the winter I started doing everything that is needed like changing the fluids, flushing the trans, new hoses, belts, tires, shocks, full tune up and so on. Since the carb was incorrect, I sourced a correct coded Quadrajet and had it rebuilt by a Q-jet pro. When spring rolled around, I started wet sanding the paint until my arm about fell off than buffed for a pretty nice luster. Not much was needed in the interior other than a really good cleaning and shampooing of the carpets.

So, since the spring, I've been driving my Cruiser nearly everyday, taking the kids to school, trips to the supermarket, running errands, rain or shine, for about the past 2,000 trouble-free, pleasurable and immensely comfortable miles now.

So to answer a few questions that arose earlier in the thread, my Cruiser does have power bench seat but I just forgot to mention it in the Craigslist ad. I also forgot to include some engine pics but frankly, the engine compartment is unrestored, crusty but clean. The paint is pretty nice but I choose not to touch up the stone chips in the front facia and both rockers in order to represent this car as an untouched survivor. There are also some rub-through spots where I got too aggressive with the sand paper and buffer. Otherwise, she's pretty nice to look at and a very relaxing car to drive and live with.

I'll get some pics attached shortly of the cosmetic flaws so everyone knows she isn't perfect and has a few warts.

    Chris

It sure is a pretty one.....post up some detail pics of the clam weatherstripping for Brandon, Vetteman61, if you haven't already shared them with him.

    Good luck with the sale!

So you haven't answered the $64,000 question. After going through all you did to get the car from one end of the country to the other, and given all that you've done to it to get it so nice, why are you selling it?

Mate good on ya for clearing this up!

What a neat example and it looks like you have cleaned this thing up a treat. Just curios, but why are you selling? 8K is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, and this will be a very hard clamshell to replace, (even now never alone in the future) and we have already seen the value slowly rising on these cars these days certainly since I have been watching.

Don't wish to pry but I think you are one lucky son of a gun with this find already!

So here are some pics of those knicks, scrapes and chips in the paint that I mentioned earlier.
